Does anyone have a .PDF copy of the OEM roof rack installation instructions? I bought one from a Toyota parts dealer but instructions were not included. It looks pretty straight forward + the tips I've picked up here to seal the bolts and use rubber washers, I mainly need the torque values. I like to read through the factory documentation before an install.

Hope one of you can help me out. Thanks.

Eventually found the instructions. Maybe I got a lemon but this is one of the most piss-poorly made, and poorly thought out pieces of hardware I've ever had my hands on. Badly misaligned with the factory holes, cheap screws stripping out before even reaching proper torque, single use plastic clips, just to name a few. What a joke.

If it's similar to the second gen which I'm pretty sure they're identical. You should bend the driver side cab bracket closer to the cab to prevent any gapping

I recently purchased one as well, and I will agree. I am not very impressed at all.

Does anyone have any idea on where people are applying the silicone? I would assume just put some down into the threaded holes and then on top as well. Also, some people have said you need to replace the supplied washers with rubber washers?

Just looking for some advice on the best/safest way to install mine as well.

I’m not sure why but a lot of OEM roof racks come misaligned. Also, there are usually no install instructions for OEM parts because it is believed that only the factory/dealer will be installing them.

Yea, there were no instructions with mine either. But all the bolts and washers were sealed in a plastic bag. But it honestly does not impress me.

When I installed mine that is how I did it. I left the rubber tape/stripping and just used a knife to poke holes through it. I figured it would help seal everything. I followed the video below and watched a couple others just to see how other people installed theirs. It was mentioned in one video that you might have to slightly bend the front of brackets to get a tight fit on the cab and I did that but I didn't have to bend them much. My OEM version didn't have any hole alignment issues and the supplied fasteners were fine. I just took my time and installed the racket loosely at first and then tightened the fasteners in a logical manner to get a good seal, it just took more time. I also didn't use any power tools to install it. The only issue I had was on the last rack the square nut somehow popped out of its housing in the rack and I had to uninstall it and reseat the nut on the underside of the rack. I think it popped out during shipping and I didn't notice until I went to install the fastener.

Here is the main video I used but I would search a couple others to see if there is any differences.

When I was installing my rack on one of the sides had a square captive nut pop out and I had to reseat it to get that fastener to attach. I think mine moved during shipping since it wasn't completely popped out of the bracket it was just not where it was supposed to be. Unfortunately those nuts are on the part that you already attached. See if your other rack has the same issue and check your packaging to see if there are any small square threaded pieces of metal.

Thank you! It was exactly this! That square nut fell out and sitting on the roof under the rack….took long to put it in the plastic holder. And I agree with most people-these bolts are absolute garbage!
