Mine = 4 cyl and it comes with iridium denso's. That is all that motor will ever see. I pulled the plugs when I got it at 51k just to know what was in it. I pulled the plugs the other day with 90k on this set at 140k on odometer. Sure they were a bit white ashy looking which is how they should look, had no carbon or oil whatsoever & when I checked the gap to see how much it had grown, the gap was still .043 like manual says it should be. Went ahead and changed them and now have peace of mind for another 100k. Stuck the old ones in the new boxes and kept them aside for whatever reason. I will say that anytime any other brand besides ngk or denso copper have been used in any of the Toyotas I've had since 1972, they didn't last for shit and some caused issues. Learned long ago to just feed them plugs, filters & gaskets & replacement parts from the factory if you want or expect the same life and reliability out of it.

2005-11 v6's come with 3 ngk and 3 denso so I dunno what a previous poster was getting at when he said ngks cause problems.

Ran E3's in my '12 Sport for 60K miles with no problems. Going to put them in my '15 OR and run them for about 60K miles also. That's roughly 2 years of driving for me. I'm certain it's not hurting my engine. I get that they're not not the recommended plug, but neither is the Mobile 1 oil that I run. OMG. People that think the only things you can put in or on your is what the manual says. They (Toyota manual ) are recommending you use these products, or similar.

So the consensus is OEM it seems. I am intrigued with the idea of using copper spark plugs due to less voltage need to initiate spark. Anyone else care to comment on that? I don't believe that my 100k truck that I just bought had had its sparks replaced as per the carfax anyway, It is totally possible that the original owner did them himself as i would too but considering the general care he gave this truck, Im assuming they need to be done.

Dunno who "they" are but I use the manual as a suggestion and past real life experience as decision maker.

Can't buy into your conspiracy theory, at least as far as Toyota. Denso and NGK are independent companies. Our V6 was designed for the recommended spark plugs, and at least 10,000 more miles change interval from non-iridium plugs from 20 years ago. 4 cylinder has been through a redesign, and apparently iridium plugs was part of the revision. One of the best things improving spark plug life was unleaded gasoline.

"On January 30, 2012, the US Justice Department announced after two years of investigation that it had discovered part of a massive price fixing scheme in which Denso and Yazaki played a significant role. The conspiracy, which fixed prices and allocated components to such car manufacturers as Toyota and Honda, extended from Michigan to Japan, where it was also under investigation. Denso agreed to pay a fine of 78 million dollars."

Independent doesn't mean independent in antitrust law -- FTC Act, Sherman Act, etc....

Because Toyota is completely different than any other auto maker? They never make stupid financial mistake or make stupid cheap decisions? :der:

Iridium plugs can be used in our V6 like copper. Lets not make up random reasons/problems just because you are afraid to deviate from the manual.
