If this is the case I need to order this asap from my dealership while they still can get parts

Edit: The TRD lift kit is on ebay if you guys are having trouble finding it for sale

Wait, wait, wait, 2 fucking grand and THAT is what you end up with?!?!?

Honestly I understand why people make fun of us 3rd Gen owners at this point, if somebody sent that to me I would think they are kidding or it was a meme.

For 2 grand you can get pro take offs for gods sake and it’s still an OEM part. Buy an AliBaba express pro grille for $100 and call it a day, Jesus Christ.

    Cool stuff
Suspension warranty is one of those things you would probably never use

To see stock, you have to look at the individual part numbers of the kit. The part number that is to be bill out in Canada will never show availability.

Somewhat related: I bought my 2021 TRD Sport DCSB a month ago and shortly after realized I was about to add 200-300 lbs of accessories and wanted to compensate accordingly with suspension and being that I was looking at RTT’s, thought at the time the leveling kit was important.

TL:DR: dealership didn’t want to install TRD lift/wasn’t familiar with the parts package.

my truck came with a lifetime warranty on drivetrain and I opted for the extended warranty that covers all non-degrading parts (it lowered my interest rate 2%, which blew me away, and raised my monthly $19, seemed justifiable if my AC or radio went down). I thought by opting for the Toyota lift kit I would protect the warranty, then realized I also wanted to go with OME 888’s and Icon AAL’s to help compensate for added weight, at which point I accepted that the dealer my no longer honor the warranty on suspension, but I had already made the appointment, had all the parts, and thought maybe I’d at least get a good car wash out of it (I was originally quoted $917 for the install, which included an alignment with a 1 yr warranty, not great/not terrible for dealer service).

Dealership would not install the lift with any alternative parts (springs/AAL) present. Ok, I get that. I asked if they’d just install it as it came, without the springs and AAL (thinking I’d get it done elsewhere as I also planned on having my URD Y pipe installed elsewhere), also no.

I talked through it with a service advisor after I dropped it off and he kept recommending taking it to a 4WheelParts or something of the sort.

I asked if they’d at least do the grill/sensor swap, and they said no, “there’s no sensor included in the kit”, although the sensor was in the box with the grill and the garnish was clearly packaged and labeled as such in a sub kit.

my weak-ass hypothesis: Toyota got way ahead of themselves by offering this kit and wasn’t prepared for people who might know more than the person answering the phone at the dealerships calling to ask about it.

this scenario represents Guitar Center’s entire trajectory from conception to success to failure.

Great run down. Not too surprised to hear they wanted nothing to do with installing the TRD lift. My reason for starting the thread was to get to some sort of ground truth on the "Stop Sale" directive. Is it due to lack of parts in the pipeline, in which case we can expect resumption at some point. Or, is it due to defect discovered after pushing kit to market? My dealership is not able to order kits, but they also won't go to other dealerships to have a kit transferred/shipped. I found several dealerships with kits on the shelf and wanted my dealership to grab one...no go.

I would just like something from Toyota letting the Tacoma crowd know the actual reasoning. Would help me decide if I should wait or pursue other commercially available leveling lift options. I want the "rake" removed and 1-2 inch lift in front and 1 inch in rear. Nothing more.

I’d like to know as well. I have a kit sitting here in box, I’d rather not install until I understand the reasoning.

I called the dealership that installed mine and asked. They say it's due to a shortage of kits, that demand is greater than Toyota expected.

Nice...how did you get a kit, eBay? I thought this was DIO only and you couldn't order from service dept., etc. If you have kit in hand and dealer will install the provided kit, go for it. I would do the clamshell bushing as well if they are allowing you to provide parts.

Got mine yesterday, I have Dobinsons red springs on backorder, going to use the TRD lift set on 0.5" with Dobinsons C59-352 springs in red which should arrive by "late June". Converting from metric to inches, TRD shocks set on 0.5" with the springs will equate to a little over 2.86 inches of lift. I really want the red suspension look (without paying for toytec) and I don't want to replace UCA's with JBA because I've heard that they can get squeaky.

So apparently there are two sets of lift kits, the first one had a stop order, and that was the one with the restrictions on DCLB, 2wd, etc. However, after toyota released the second one, there was no more limitations, and my dealer said they were "universal". Can anyone corroborate this?

I’m not so sure this is the thread to gain that answer. I just read the whole thing, because I wanted an answer, like you. However, it’s mostly arguments of how that’s stupid or dumb and a waste of money. I got it done in March, I’m gonna ask some questions at the dealer next week, while they change my needle bearing, under warranty.
