OEM Tube Steps Discontinued?

I tried to order silver tube steps yesterday from a nearby Toyota dealer. The Parts employee mentioned that Toyota recently discontinued tube steps for all Tacoma's. An inventory search, however, showed another local dealer had 1 set in stock. I contacted the dealer immediately. I was informed the tube steps were returned to the manufacture because the item is discontinued. Neither employee could provide an explanation as to why the tube steps are discontinued.

I appreciate any information concerning:

1). Why the tube steps have been discontinued,

2). Where to buy OEM tube steps

not sure why, but the bike fork mount was discontinued as well (at least according to the dealer)...maybe lack of sales, trying to tighten up the belt a little?

 

ive got some oem chrome steps u can buy!!!

 

hmmm never heard anything on that yet. if you cant get em at the dealerships, you can always check our classifieds or online toyota parts sites
