Does anyone know how much UV (if any) the OEM tinted glass blocks?

80% allowing 20% of light to pass through. Had my fronts tinted to match rears, and the shop used 20% damn close match.

I also had my fronts tinted to 20% and it is a pretty close match. The shop that did mine told me that the factory glass has the tint "built in" so nothing would be a perfect match.

TheDan is headed in the right direction. The tint shop I talked to stated that OEM tinted glass (where the tint is IN the glass rather than an applied film) does not block UV. Of course they can rectify this by tinting ALL the windows... I'm trying to figure out if they're full of shit.

I think there could also be variations in the region that the truck came, mine was metered at 27% for the back, and 78% for the front, without any additional tint on it, the back was privacy glass of course.

Reviving the thread a little here but I just have a clarification question. If I want to match my front windows to the OEM tint in the rear, should I ask for 20% tint in the front at a tint shop?

    Thanks for any help,

    Matt

20% tint on all windows, Deckplate mod, satoshi-ish grille, blacked out and/or body matched emblems, rattle canned rims, red l.e.d. interior lights, bilstein 5100's and OME 881 coils , deaver 8 leaf pack, 1.5" lift shackle, alpine sound system, 55w HID lightforce 140 and 170 fogs
Yes, you could just ask for 20% and that would be a pretty close match. Or just ask them to match your front windows to the back ones and they'll put on whatever will match it the best.

Ah ok. Didn't know if tint shops would be able to identify a match using the rears. Thanks for the info AK.

No problem. Most tint shops have a light meter that can read how much light is being passed through. Same thing the cops have when they check people's cars for having their tint too dark

15% is a near perfect match

I put 35% ceramic film on my DC front windows and it's real close to the rears and back window.
