Does the dual batter system require an HO alternator? (or is it a recommendation?)

    Thanks Boomkanani!

    To answer your question 000doodie000,

Most Toyota truck alternators are 130 amps. This is plenty powerful enough for our dual battery applications. However, the voltage they are designed to operate at is usually not sufficient to keep AGM batteries charged above 90%.

These "booster fuses" are a great solution. I personally run one in my 4Runner and it has been great to keep the Odyssey batteries topped off. I routinely get 14.4 volts out of my alternator now that it is installed. This is exactly what most AGM batteries need.

Of course, an alternative is to simply charge your batteries once every few weeks with a quality battery charger.

Long story short, you do not need an upgraded alternator to get higher voltage or to simply run a dual battery system.

Finished install after receiving some of @Mr.PowerTrays stubby cables for the Blue Seas fuse box and cable to run the SwitchPro off the aux battery.
