Got the trailer registered today. I can now tow it around legally!

I changed the design on the tongue box a little bit. I left the top open and I'm going to mount the jerry cans on the sides behind the fenders.

I finished skinning the fenders and the tongue box. The tailgate is very close to being mounted. I welded the hinges to the tailgate but haven't bolted it to the trailer get. i got the latches in place as well. So it's almost done.

I've also added the side door. So the only thing left is to make the hinge section of the lid, and then paint.

i've decided on going with raptor liner in a black and tan paint scheme.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. I don't currently have my camera, but I have a few from my phone that are uploading

To give an idea of the scale of this trailer

here are a few slightly better pictures. I'm not sure where I am on my "things I just finished list" because now I'm on a list of "things not finished" since it's that close to the end.

Okay, so. The trailer was sandblasted and primed on thursday/friday. I picked up the paint on friday and then tapped it off last night. Woke up bright and early at 5:30 to lay on the color.

here is the result (for reference, I used emron industrial 1 stage paint with a flat finish). got a spray gun at lowes and already had the compressor. The paint was super easy to do. Didn't have any problems with drips or un-even coats. I did a pretty thick first coat and then decent 2nd coat all around the trailer. Then a little extra on the tailgate and front section of the trailer.

Man you really went all out on that thing. Great job and looks sweet behind your Taco. Big props to you. How much do you have into it? and how much does it weigh? Did you use a shear to cut all the panels?

I like the extra time you spent making it 2 tone, it's more of a hassle but pays off in the end for sure.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure if I put all the time and effort into this trailer that it wouldn't have a problem keeping up with the tow rig.

I'm not sure where to put the weight at. It's on a 3,500lb axle, but I think it might weigh close to 1,000lbs. I'm driving to denver next week and found a place that can put it on a scale to give me dry weight and tongue weight. So I'll know the answer to that question next week.

To cut all the big panels I used a circular saw to rough cut it and then went back in with an angle grinder to trim it down. Huge PITA, takes at least 30/45 minutes per cut. I wish I had a plasma cutter :(

Money spent is a lot. It was around 1,500 just for steel.

The paint came out great for a DIY. Not 100% perfect, but I'm pretty impressed with the quality. Getting it sandblasted and primed had a played a big role in that.
