    is there a update to our gps system to have off-road trails shown. Or what's a good GPS unit to buy that can have trails uploaded to them.

    Thanks for the reply. But i would think using your phone would be dangerous because if you lose signal out in the trails! It be dangerous. Or am I missing something.

    You download the Topo and/or Satellite view of the area before hand. Also have to search and find Trail Routes to download also.

    Then record your route to help with backtracking.

    Most current smartphones have GPS tracking without phone signal. Just have a charging cable hooked up to prevent battery drain.

    Anything backcountry is going to require research and knowledge to aid in figuring situations out versus blindly following a line on the map. If you took the time to find the route and downloaded it, hopefully you picked up other Intel to use while following that research.
