the way I understood comments from ESPN talking heads, it seems there will be changes and this was one of them.

 

Oh yes I think so. Conf champs should be in 100%, they just shouldn’t be guaranteed a bye.

 

I could be mistaken but I thought that was related to the Pac-12 basically dissolving until they added a bunch of teams recently.

 

Is that not how it is? Boise State is not in a power 5 conference until next year and they get a bye.

 

So after reviewing the website, seems this playoff is locked in for 2 years as-is and up for change after next season.

 

You know, now I’m confused lol.

I could have sworn the talking heads said the top 4 seeds will be conference champions regardless of ranking, but that ranking will decide between the champions like Boise vs Clemson this year. I guess maybe that doesn’t mean just power 4 it can be any conf champ?

in my opinion Army should be in the playoff.

 

I just know that they'd typically be power 5 conference champions but there's lots of cases where they wouldn't be. Boise's only loss was in a close game with Oregon near the beginning of the season. I'm pulling for Boise but I don't know that they'll realistically go far.

Army didn't really play anyone and the one team they did play (Notre Dame of all teams) blew them out. I'd love to see a service academy get a shot but I feel like they'd need to be undefeated and win pretty convincingly. Especially since they're near the bottom in a lot of statistics, such as passing.

 

While you make a good point, its not as if Notre Dame was scheduling creampuffs.

 

Anyone want to try to organize a bracket pool like for basketball?

 

Now that I’ve had time to think about it. I really wanted that sec title this year probably more than the national title. And it’s only because of aggy. And looking at the bracket it looks to me like Texas has the second easiest path to the semi finals after Penn state. All they have to do is learn how to score touchdowns again. I also believe we are about to see Arch get a lot more playing time to get him prepared to take over next season.

 

Not cupcakes but very winnable. Seems they're handpicking ACC + Purdue, Navy & USC. I would love to see them join ACC, they'll have a game or two flexibility like everyone else. They do have some entertaining schedules coming up in a couple years, if the opponents maintain what they have today.

 

Michigan and Alabama to bookend both sides of 2024. Not sure how Michigan (7-5) and Alabama (9-3, first team out of the playoffs) got matched up but here we go.

How’s your run defense? And if you let them get to the red zone instead of scoring from 30+ yards out yall should be fine.

 

I don’t think Notre Dame is hand picking ACC opponents. Where they are independent in Football they have an agreement to line a portion of their schedule up with ACC opponents. (This is what I understand and may be wrong) I’m guessing the ACC chooses the ACC lined games for Notre Dame since the conference would schedule all conference games for their teams.
