It's really a pity that Toyota went forward with that awkward, borderline garish front end styling, in my own opinion. It really doesn't work well aesthetically to me.

Funny, in that lighting, and camera angle, it looks like an angry pig face.

Nice updated truck i'm sure .. seems to be having a few early production teething pains and problems that will be sorted soonish i'm sure, but i'll stick with what i got, given my needs, wants and tastes.

The second gen, 1st version is more simplistic, and (currently) has many more aftermarket parts available, in order to personalize to taste/need/ego.

One step at a time, brother.. but be sure she's a keeper first!

I had an add-a-leaf in the rear but it sat too high for my liking so took it out. I love the Icons, just on my drive to work I noticed a tremendous difference going through the dips. @Atskune

That thing is (excuse my language but it's necessary) fucking sweet dude. I would love to supercharge my truck if I could afford the kit. @dcvt16

I have a general question for anyone running six lug shocks in the rear, Since the six lug shocks are longer and need to compress more for our tiny little trucks, have any of you ever bottomed out your shocks before the bump stops? I'm just concerned I might use all of the shaft before I even come close to my bump stops.

I have with the trd bilstiens at least I want to assume that's what it was. I had to go over bumps pretty fast for it to happen but it was a feeling I did not like. When I installed my aal it pretty much fixed it.

Here's the distance before I installed my aal.

After aal installed sorry for slightly different angle

sounds good. I have an add a leaf in my garage I took out, I just don't like how my truck sits with it in (personal preference). I just don't want to blow my Icons I barely got. Thanks @Atskune

Im sure there's a sweet spot for shocks to be in....honestly before putting in the aal Id just go over some humps or speed bumps agressively you'll know real quick if you need the extra space. Another thing to keep in mind is with an aal you'll gain more travel thus allowing the shocks to be used more to its potential.

Yea that's what I was thinking. I'm going to put some zip ties around my shafts, and see how much they slide down while I'm driving. I just want money so I can build it fully hahaha slowly but surely

    Thank you.

I tried to run the icon 6 lug shocks in the rear before i was long travel with a 1.5" aal, they were too long. Icon has a specific 5 lug part number for the left and the right sides since they are different lengths.. I'll try and dig up the part numbers they gave me.

I tell ya it's so cool to see you 5 Lug guys doing your thing. I think this site gets so caught up in the 4x4 guys/gals, and the PeeRunners (myself included) that you 5lug guys get overshadowed. Good to see you guys doing your thing up in here. Keep up the damn good work folks :D

@dcvt16 what kind of problems did you run into running those shocks?

While we're talking about rear suspension do you guys think a second gen shock tower relocation would work with 5 lugs?

The shocks were just too long and would bottom out before hitting the bumps. Also one shock needs to be shorter due to factory design, so one would bottom out before the other.

There was a guy on here that used the bamf shock relocation upper mounts on his 5 lug. I actually bought some too, but never used them. The rear frame section is very similar, if not the same as a 6 lug truck.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/disc0monkeys-5lug-build.277607/

part # for the 5 lug icon Tacoma Rear shocks 56507 and 56507R (resi) they dont offer different lenghts for left and right. But supposedly this part number is what you need for the 5 lug.

I'm wondering if I throw my add a leaf back in if it will help me at all. I don't do anything super big (yet) so that add a leaf might help me out. Then again I'm not too sure how much my rear travels when I'm off road.

I would do the zip tie on the shaft, and go hit some dips around town to see.

Yes, i was goin to build a for sale thread in April once i had a break from work. Pm me and I'll shoot you some pics if you're interested.
