Wouldn't surprise me if they messed up on putting in the wrong hardware. Had that happen to me. Seems like they just kinda whatever in the box. I had a bunch of extra hardware.

And plus, you know what they say: leftover parts are just proof you made it better

What's the added benefits between NWF crawlbox and mc/tg rf1a setup? Look like both are gear driven mated to the factory chain. Also, what's NWF gear ratio?

From a strength standpoint a planetary setup will always trump a gear driven setup as far as strength goes due to the physical layout. To lower the gear ratio in a planetary setup requires more than most are willing to invest, which is usually reinventing the stock gearing setup in addition to the housing it is in.

I understand planetary trump gear driven case. But for the NWF setup, look like their case is staggered with the factory chain chain (according to the picture). So regardless of how strong the crawlbox really is, it's only strong as the weakest link: the chain case since they're both working in tandem. It would be nice if NWF designed something similar to the Atlas where the factory case is eliminated altogether.

sure but ive never heard anyone blowing up the rear chain drive case in a dual application. Besides, atlas type replacement is 4K where an OEM replacement can be had for pennies on the dollar and can be purchased at the junkyard.

Advanced sells just a RF1A case that’s beef compared to stock. It’s like $220 and nice for a 4.7 crawler that’s all you need aside from the shifter. 4.7’s come with the bearings and seals you need.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still excited for NWF to innovate in this area. As long as the 203/205 doubler has been a thing with planetaries, I’m happy to see this happen with Toyota cases.

Good call on the shift fork and rod too. Been too many years and beers since I put mine together.

I wouldn’t mind a Toyota crawlbox with a Dana 300 rear case so I could have front dig ability. Reece has been running that setup in his 4600 car with a ton of success

Marlin doesn't make it so you may have a chance to get parts for it in this century.

Nothing wrong with that! That's how I do my builds and I work slow as hell and do tons of planning, it hones in what you really need IMO!

You can get the shift components separately from yotamasters. They sell some top shift conversion kits that have everything you need and then they were able to get me the shift collar and a few other misc things that I didn't have.

Yea that's how I built mine up minus the advance adapters case.
I used marlin gears, TG adapters and a marlin coupler between the trans and input shaft
