I don't have one but I think those of us cursed with noise sensitivity are screwed as far as crawl boxes go. I think I'm just going to start driving around with ear buds in anyway to drown out the retarded muffler I put in after 4-linking. :frusty:

I have probably about 1k miles on my ecocrawler and it's not really any louder than the stock single t-case. There is a slight rattle on decel but is only roughly from 2000-2500 rpm then it goes away.

My throw out bearing is squealing like a stuck pig right now so it hard for to say for certain, but I do think there is a little less gear noise coming out the ecocrawler setup compared to my old 4.7s. I wouldn't call my 4.7s noisy, but there was some noise from them, and as @mmthaswrong said, I don't hear any noticeable gear noise out of the new setup.

    Stock-ish
Gotta keep in mind, the 4.7 input is spinning about twice as fast as the stock 2.28/2.57, but yeah they scream for sure. I've had marlin, tg, inchworm, all about the same.

I don’t know if I’m the anomaly but my crawlbox is literally invisible in high range. Zero extra noise from stock. TG adapters on a stock top shift case with 4.7’s in front of a stock chain case. My buddy’s 4Runner on dual gear cases is comically loud in high range though.

Was going to mention the same thing, the only noise I did have was where the shifter tip was too long causing it to hit the counter gear. Quick flap disk and its quiet. Also running 85w140 vs 75-90 I'm sure helps a bit.

Inchworm adapters, MC 4.7 gears, and the upgraded shifter spring. Assembled by myself.

Ones definition of quiet will defer to the other. I have other noise to worry about.

I'm running the clockable inchoworm with mc 4.7 comp and it's not noticeable. I hear my tires more if anything.

Same here more or less. Or at least maybe I just can't hear it over the noise of the MT tires. Running 75w90.
Only time I really hear it is when it's not warmed up and you can kind of hear the gears rack back and forth/chatter on accel and decel.

I thought about running 84w-140, but some of the shops I talked thought it would be too thick. Maybe I'll give it a go next time I drain it.

I recommend trying the 85w140. I notice the shifter doesn't get nearly as warm as it did when normal driving with 75w90 but conditions change and everyone is a bit different etc. I feel the bearings can handle the flow of even the 140 when it's thicker. Definitely not for the chain case, that screen pickup is too fine for that thicker oil.

Yea I'll be curious what kind of differences I notice on both noise and heat. that and if it affects how much metal shavings come out with each oil change.
The 4.7 case shifter shaft gets god damn hot.

I run the thick stuff in my dual lefty combo and it helps keep it cooler. I figured that fluid gets so hot in there anything to help it. Been running it for almost 8yrs now and no real issues. Still comes out clean and with normal amounts of shavings on there. When I lived up north in Illinois I used to warm the truck up in the garage with the rear case in N and the truck in gear to heat the fluid up, that helped when it was in the teens and single digits. If I didn't do that it made some odd noises and kinda dragged a bit.

My crawl box is also loud as hell and always has been. My chatters real bad as I took off that extra thin gear on the 2.28 gears in my crawl box that was supposed to quiet things down, espcially off throttle going down a hill on the highway, it had done that ever since I installed my spartan rear locker. I am also running one of the ooooold school dual row bearings, I do have one of the upgraded ones on the shelf that I may someday install. Maybe that will quiet it down some.
