unless u had a ball bearing pop out and its just chilling out, the new bearing wont help with quieting anything down.

Alright, so I'm picking up a 1985 4Runner next weekend and dual cases on that seem to be pretty straight forward and spelled out in enough threads on the internet.
However, I'm considering swapping a 5VZ-FE into it. How much will this complicate dual cases? I'm assuming I'll need a different dual case set up than I would if I kept the stock 22RE.

Correct, in general tho, it’s a similiar process. Not super challenging just time consuming.

It's just a matter of lining up the output of the of the transmisson from the A340 (from the 2001 4Runner) to the transfer case of the 1985 4Runner?

You will need a different t case right with adaptors to bolt on the additional case

If you're swapping in a 5vz with the A340 tranny that goes with it, after the trans you can do whatever you want for cases. The adapter you'll be using after the trans will just adapt your A340 trans to the rf1a low range section (Crawlbox part), then after that you could put the original rf1a gear drive case that came in the truck behind it, or throw a j-shift chain case behind like (the stock cases that come in 1st gen tacos and 3rd gen t4r's). Just buy the adapter for whichever route you wanna go.

I literally have everything to do this. The transmission; adapter plate and duals. I can sell all three or just what you need

Couple trips in with my failgear dual setup. Got the adaptor kit off of Poly Performance for $800, picked up a Tcase for $80, 23 spline sumo input for $140, and had new shafts made/retubed for $550 with a 3/16" wall rear. Also put a poly mount under the crawl box. No real extra noise, maybe a hair in high range, with low range being just as noisy as my stock case. Never had an issue with the trail gear stuff on past setups, so went with them again.

Everything is in and functioning. Test drove it last night. Ended up just engaging the ADD actuator and then leaving the 4wd ECU unplugged. Everything shifts smooth :burnrubber::turtleride:

Duals coming in handy to do dumb stuff, first time with duals/an auto and its more than enough even with a 2.28 box
Was hoping my poly motor mounts would show up before this trip but they didnt, think I ripped the drivers side mount the previous trip so slapped a poly mount on the crawlbox case to keep the drivetrain somewhat in the truck and worked great.

Which is the correct input shaft for the nwf ecobox into a 2001 Tacoma 5vz automatic?

    Option B.

It should look exactly like this when all put together. This is mine I put into my 1999 4Runner 5VZ, R150F MT (which is the same output / mating surface as the A340F AT)
