Same metric driveline, just re-tubed to thicker wall tubing. I had them re-tube my rear 2 piece and also took them a one-piece driveshaft double cardan from a 4runner and had them lengthen that. I like running the one piece driveshaft over the 2-piece, can't stand the cheap ass pillow block bearing toyota puts on the 2nd gen driveshafts.

But standard has nothing to do with Murica it's a British Kings measurement and even the Brits got smart and adopted most of the metric system. Was having the same conversation this past Sun. it would be so much easier.

Yup, just pointing out how stupid our overpaid mechanics are at work. Same guys were also complaining that it's a safety issue that the air conditioners display in metric units and not imperial. I told them it doesn't matter if its counting in units of monkeys, make sure it's in the range of the manual and 100% not a safety issue. Blank stares and a bunch if yea but still responses....

You should tell them there are some neat apps for your phone that can convert the different units in a split second and see what their reaction is then

Yeah, base 10 and moving a decimal point around to convert is way too hard, bro.

Where did everyone get these dowel pins from? Did they come with your crawlbox hardware or did you source them elsewhere. My TG case didn’t include them, and none of the parts stores here had them either.

The originals are still in the back of the transmission.

If I’m thinking correctly, they will remain there and love between the crawlbox and the trans.

The dowels the instructions are calling for go between the crawlbox and rear case.

    What am I missing here?

Guess I’ll call them tomorrow... again. They just had to ship me a replacement shifter today because they sent a broke one with the case. Haha.

Played around testing the crawlbox this weekend. Everything seems to be working fine. One thing I did notice, on the twin sticked FJ case the 4wd lever doesn't seem to have real positive engagement. Just feels mushy like it may not wanna stay where I put it. Anyone know if there's a way to fix that? Like a heavier detent spring similar to the one iavailable for the crawl box.

Shift into 4wd with the clutch pushed in and moving just a tad. Mines been like that since day 1 answer doing this seems to smooth it up

Probably was broken during shipping. CA to TN is a long ride and the rule of thumb for me is that any package will experience a drop from about waist high.

Yep, exact same ball and spring detent.

Not sure about the fj case but on the first gen case, i swap both spring (2 to 4 & hi to lo) in the rear case with mc hd rf1a shift spring. In comparison, the mc hd spring were slightly longer in length and not designed for the taco case but fit fine. Feels much better and lock rail/shifter into position better and don't seen to "wobble and move freely" like before. It does take slightly more effort to shift now compared to the factory spring.

Did it as well, shifting feels more "notchy" and more effort is needed but can tell much better the shifter position of H-N-L or 2wd-4wd with less shifter wobble.
