Rocksolidtoys had one installed in either a GX, 4Runner or FJ and i asked them how they mounted it and showed a pic. problem is i dont have any memory of where they posted it. it was a while ago. ill see if i can find it.

found it. Was from back in April and on an fj. Not the finished pic but should give you an idea

Thanks, yeah, that's the one I was looking at and linked above, but looks like they are going to mount it to a new crossmember which will still could present the issues I pointed out above. My current thought would be to use that but tie it into the tranny crossmemeber, but not sure how yet. I think I will need to get it installed and see how everything looks.

You got a link to that? I'd like to see more of that tranny crossmember.

It was on Facebook. Around April 20 or so. Never got more pics. Probably could ask him

@awsumdc how did you mount the atlas case in that fj cruiser you installed back in April

mine came with a steel plate that i used infact my black box also came with one so i will be using those two and making a wide mount that uses engine mounts out by the frame to hold everything. i do not want to put the torque of a triple case through the factory trans.

it's mounted between the 3/4" spacer and the atlas. I have the long input so i have to have 1" of spacer or it wont bolt up. ill have the truck in the shop this weekend putting in the RCV's and putting on the snow shoes. I'll try and remember to snap a few pics for ya.

I would use only one mount and mount it off the atlas. That way everything can pivot when the engine moves and you aren't over stressing the trans. I was getting some wicked drivetrain vibes on my dual cases with only stock motor mounts and a poly trans mount in the stock location with duals. I re did my mounts and secured the entire drivetrain with a rubber mount on the rear case and the factory motor mounts and I got rid of 90% of high speed vibes. Properly phasing the driveshaft using a digital angle finder got rid of the rest. After those issues I'll only run a mount as far back as I can get it for the trans and tcase combo and the motor mounts. I think some people start going a little crazy with elaborate trans cross members and mounts everywhere.

Here's a pic, not an atlas but you get the idea. You can see where the old mount was and where I moved it to along with the now un used trans mount. I would do a similar setup with an atlas if (when) I get one using the flat plate on the bottom of the case to secure it to the mount.

That would be great and what I would do as well, however, there aren't any mounting points on the Atlas

That tail mount above is what most end up using (usually in conjunction with a trans mount) and I don't think it should support the trans and the tranny. What I have seen that might work with the configuration you mentioned is using those bottom bolt holes to mount it, like the below.

Yea that's the way I would do it. You are also right those tailshaft supports look kind of janky.

Its weird that that they don't come with any solid mounting options like other cases/boxes, I asked Advanced about it and they said it was probably fine without one, but I would feel better with a mount on that big ol bitch. Especially with the 4 speed, the 2 might be OK just hanging on the tranny.

Maybe they are of the opinion that if you are swapping an atlas into something you should be able to fab the mount?

There may be an option in the jeep.world you could make work on a toyota. I know goat built used to have a cradle you could buy, it was for a buggy setup, but with enough time and welding wire you could get it work on a truck.

No, we went into it in depth (Vince, who has been there since the 90's), and he flat out said it wasn't needed for our type of rigs, Ultra4 sure. We did discuss the cradle I posted above, which is made by AA for divorced setups, and that was the only thing he recommended, he was against the tail mounts.

Ahhh ok. FWIW I ran my duals for 9yrs with only that trans mount when I was on 33s with no issues, the crap hit the fan after my SAS, I lowered the axle gears and put bigger tires on there and the offset fj80 rear axle. All is well now after changing some stuff up, it does control the torque way batter offroad. I still do need to swap in some new OEM motor mounts and chain them for piece of mind.
