I heated it up, grabbed it with a pair of channel locks then beat it off with a single jack.

It varies. Some coupler comes off fairly easy without :muscleflexing: others are complex and difficult. Welding a rod or nut to the side will probably be easiest. If not, locking plier with a firm grip to the coupler than using a gear/claw puller. Or pull the input out and press it out.

Endless possibilities.... just have to use your imagination. :drunk:

Couldn’t get the grip to stay, so I cut a couple notches so it sat in there good and square and then pulled it off like cake

I did check briefly check ebay before, but also didn't look super hard. But yea most of them were absurdly overpriced.
I'm still looking around for an appropriately priced case, but if I can grab the TG built unit on a good sale, I'll likely just go that route. Hopefully labor day yields some good discounts.

    Good progress today. Two (compound) questions;

1.) What are y’all doing for the breather off the stock case? The RAD Designs triple stick cover has a 1/8 NPT for that section, and I’ll run hose up and out of the way... but what about the crawl box? Do the boxes share enough pass through cavities to both breath through that one port?

2.) Are y’all sealing the crawl box to tail housing? The stock Tcase doesn’t have any gasket there, but I feel there are more cavities and passages now.. if you didn’t seal it did it leak there? I’ve got enough FIPG left to do it, but no sense in doing it unnecessarily.

Called trail gear and got some answers to my two questions above. The crawl box and tcase both breath together. And the tail housing to adapter plate needs sealant

how does the crawl box and tcase breath together? the tcase is a sealed unit from the crawl box. am i missing something here?

and i have always put sealant between transmission and the crawl box to transmission adapter

That was what I was thinking as well. They said there is enough passage between the two for breathing purposes. :notsure:

Maybe on a lefty or an old school geared tcase but not a chain one. It’s sealed.

just drill a hole in the shifter base and tap with 1/8” NPT threads. Then you will be sure.

Not arguing that. But for TG to say a chain case and crawl box share breathing is wrong

I mean, marlin still can’t count to 22 or 23 on the second gen tacos but whatever

I agree, but I’ve damn near got this thing in and I don’t want to bring it back down lol ( though maybe I should to do a bit of a leak test..)

The passenger side shift rail is empty and near the top of the case.. how big of a deal would it be to use that entrance for a breather vs the shifter base? Pictured below.

Also, the picture below is me trying to get the stock hardware past the shift rail detent ball/spring hump on the crawl box. Wasn’t happening, so I put a stud in the tail housing and I’ll just use a nut.. anyone else have this issue?

some of the hardware has to go on before the adapter plate is bolted to the reduction portion of the box, otherwise you’re stuck doing what u did

Inchworm used Allen head bolts up there and those are a pain to get in. Not much room to get anything in there to turn bolts.

Nvm.. I see a pass through to the tail housing via that empty shift rail hole, and the tail housing has a vent. Time to seal it up again. image.jpg image.jpg
