Nope, don't waste your money. You can built your own for about the same price with 4.7s

2.28 gears in the dual case. Only get it if you plan on putting 4.7s in. 2.28 is nothing to phone home about, and not a true crawlbox.

    MC 4.7xD ~$600
    MC 23/23 couple ~$120
    TG Tacoma adapters ~$800
    Top shift RF1A ~$200

    Forget that 2.28 nonsense.

Crawl box mod, the best thing a man can get in his toy truck, lol. Middle shifter is for the front case (crawlbox 2.28 or 4.7 ratio), left shifter hi/lo while the right shifter is for 2wd/4wd.

Not quite. You need to twin stick to shift 2/4wd and l/n/h independently of each other on the stock tcase, this gives you more “gears” so to speak, like 2wd/lo.

You can totally do a crawlbox without twin sticking the t case, but it’s sort of one of those mods that fits the bill of “while I’m in there”.

If you didn’t twin stick then you would just have one additional stick, from the crawl box, for a total of two (stock tcase shifter, crawl box shifter).

i had twin sticks and i replaced my tcase cuz it was cracked and leaking (from getting rtv in some of the bolt holes and blowing out the back side, not from anything else. totally my fault) i didnt feel like opening up the new case so i didnt twin stick it. also didnt feel the need since the purpose of twin sticks is to have 2 lo. well if i put the crawl box in lo, i have 2lo. i hardly ever used the lo in the stock tcase even out wheeling

Each case will required 1 shifter. Generally speaking, you just need 2 shifter for the 2 case. But most perfer triple stick because you don't have to cut the floor board for the second case.

    Hello Crawlers:

I recently acquired a 2nd gen MT with a Tacobox. It leaks oil (about 12-16oz/500mi) and I'm 99% certain it's coming out the top, which after talking to Kyle at MC, leads me to believe the oil sling wasn't installed. I have an oil sling plate from MC and will be going to a DIY type garage with a lift this week to attempt to install. When I called MC to inquire about instructions they were only able to supply the general install instructions.

Does anyone know if I need to separate the transfer case from the Tacobox or can I disconnect the driveshaft and lower them both as one unit (i'll have a transmission jack available)? Any ideas how long this will take? Any special tools required that I'm forgetting?

    Thanks for reading!

U can lower as one unit. Don’t need to separate unless you are bench pressing that shit up and down. Only then would it make sense.
Also, you should be able to install the oil sling thing if it’s the part that goes between the shift base and crawl box without dropping anything. Assuming they cut a hole big enough in the top.

You dont even need to remove the crawlbox/tcase.
Easiest and fastest way to access this is by taking off the center console and working your way down until you find the shift lever base. Oil sling is directly underneath that. No garage needed, only basic hand tools and some FIPG/RTV . Believe those (4) are 10mm/12mm bolts.

Actual replacement shouldn't take more then 5mins, plus however long it takes to pull the interior console.

thats one spot I like using the paper gasket on

It’s also not a slinger it’s an oil deflector. 36345-35050 is the part order two of these they’ll go on the top and bottom side of the deflector which is P/N 3610835060. Only reason is that it’s easier cleanup if you need to replace such as in your case without having to try and sneak a razor blade in there to clean the shift lever housing.
