Yep. They're all 23s, but cut to different tolerance. Quality vs Quantity and in this case, somehow quantity cost more then quality.

Thoughts on putting a Atlas 4speed behind A750F (V6 auto 4x4)? Marlin crawler doesnt suggest a dual xfer behind a auto trans.

I Will always recommend an atlas over duals. Just overall better design/stronger etc. for auto I would do a 2 speed with 4.3 or 5.0. With decent axle gears, more than deep enough for the harder obstacles

Well damn. I guess I'm gonna be the test mule on this one.
I'll definitely be reporting back here when I get my adapters in and I can test the fitment and see if there really is as much slop as you guys say there is. I just need to see it for myself at this point I guess.
But tbh, i'll be surprised if it's as loose of a fitment as it's being made out to be since I talked to a pretty well known shop that sets up a good amount of duals each year with mix & matched marlin & TG stuff.

Worst case if it's completely shit fitment, I'll try and see if marlin will sell me just the 26 - 23 spline coupler they make. If they won't, then maybe i'll look into getting one made.

Marlin don't have 23/26. Your hands are tied with tg.

If your breaking an atlas you better go with a Trail Worthy Fab hero case.

everything mechanical eventually breaks, not saying due to abuse. I’m speaking of time based failures.

Not like your going to find 23 spline inputs or ouputs, marlin or tg couplers, and 4.7 gears at the local auto part store. Unless your racing I highly doubt you’ll be breaking an atlas.

of course, yes the gears and coupler not available, but the 2.28 gears and an input shaft could be the difference of you getting home or not. Rare instance I'd imagine. If I break an input shaft, I'm good with trailering home and calling a day.

IDK your comparing apples to oranges. Your comparing a tcase/crawl box that is designed to be used behind a 4 cyl and putting it behind a v6 in a bigger, more modern, more power, heavier truck etc. The atlas is being used in ultra 4 cars and heavy 4 door jks, ls buggy builds with big tires and rev limiter drops with no issues. Sure everything breaks but i will put my money on an atlas 10/10 all day of the week for a marginally smaller upfront cost.

If your worried about breaking an atlas and considering a crawl box due to spare parts, i think you need to reevaluate lol. Sure you can find a 23 spline input etc from toyota, but where is the nearest toyota dealer to moab or sand hollow or even the rubicon or hammers (all trails i wheel). Either way, most the time breaking a tcase is a trip ending break. Hell I've had trouble finding a toyota u joint in moab and sand hollow because this is a jeep dominated hobby.

Use what you want and just wheel the shit lol.

Im 5.29s with a toyota front, 609 rear and 4.7 in the tcase and 2.28 in the crawl box. I always use the 4.7. Maybe use the 2.28 if going through the dunes at sand hollow or on a dirt road that is to rough to be cruising in high range. the 2.28 isn't low enough for the super technical stuff without a ton of skinny pedal to get the tuck moving. 4.7 is low enough for minimal input with lots of control yet not to deep that you have to constantly shift out of low to go between obstacles.

Me personally, id be getting the 5.0 vs the 4.3 but thats me. Pretty sure my dad did 5.13 with 60/14b and a 4.3 atlas. Maybe he has 5.38s i don't remember.

Whats their reasoning behind that? I love it, I have the 4 speed with 4.3 gears behind the A340F on my 4Runner.
