Makes sense but I must say I'm loving these Pro's. First time since 1998 I could make it yup the hill not in 4WD

I ran a year of KOs in the snow and never loved them, at least in slush. In hard packed snow and deep snow they didn't have any real issues, but I found it incredibly easy to engage ABS when the ground was particularly wet / slushy. The 2016 isn't as bad as the 2013, but the 2013 had markedly touchy brakes with the OR electric booster.

I absolutely love them in every other situation.

Your truck is a Sport, correct?

I think the booster was Off-Road specific and was changed later in the model run. It was funny when friends drove my truck or I dropped it off for service or an inspection. Like clockwork the first time the brakes were applied whomever drove would bash their teeth into the steering wheel.

Yes mine is but I know Jason @replica9000 complained about that also and he had a sport. Mine have just never worked like that. The ABS always seem to work the way I'd expect.

Speaking of brakes I need to change the fluid and bleed them big time though

My ans and stability control kicks in when I don't want it to sometimes when I'm trying to leave the industrial park and it requires heavy acceleration. Also need to bleed my brakes as well. I'm slowly collecting fluids and parts to replace come spring. Need to buy spark plugs and a pcv valve.

Yeah, it was way to sensitive. Horrible in snow. The truck only had ABS, no VSC or TRAC. Dunno if that makes a difference.

So far, ABS on the 4Runner seems to behave much better. ABS has only kicked it when sliding on solid ice. TRAC and VSC have worked well too, as I have yet to need 4WD even with the weather this past weekend.

Well my system also has the TRAC and VSC too. Maybe your 4runner is using the same system that I have

I could be wrong, but on my Tacoma, it felt like ABS pulsed the brakes on all 4 wheels simultaneously, where as on the 4Runner, it feels like it pulses the brakes for each wheel individually. :notsure:

Yes, please inform us on how to shut off the dam abs, with fresh snow around, I heard the grinding noises of the traction crap on the way in this morning. If I don’t put the truck in 4x4 at every intersection, the traction control system kicks in as I take off. And I’m being easy as I can with the accelerator.

Should be able to solve that by turning Traction control off (all the way off) before you get moving to get more powah. Otherwise theres a ABS Kill Switch Mod thread on here that tells you how to do it.

Edit: Maybe different for 3rd gens.. idk

Ya you kill all that crap by holding the button before take off, but lets be real here... I don’t remember that shit in the morning, I’m trying to make sure I take the right turns to get me to work.
