I understand now that I have a few hours under my belt.

I have to say, when you first told me about the game and I watched a few game play vids I was pretty apprehensive about even investing any time into it just because of the technicalities that you really like in a game and that I find frustrating. As we talked about last night, I am more of a bull in a china shop, just go in a kill everything, where you actually do a shit ton of research and figure the game out. However, once I got into it for a few hours and got through the initial opening scene and actually started running earth, I think your right in how this game is so much different than D2. Not to mention the part about running the same mission again, it will not be the same each time you run it, which I think is really cool of them to build into the game, it keeps it interesting.....hint, hint, Bungie.....and it keeps it "fair" if you will.

I think the hardest thing I am going to have a problem figuring out is the mod system. That is pretty damn confusing to me at the moment, but by the time I actually get to forging my first frame I think there will be enough tutorials and info on wiki for me to figure it out not to mention other players that I'll be playing with. I think this is going to be a big team effort in figuring out all the subtleties that need to be known. There is just way to much to understand in the first couple weeks of play, which is one of the many reasons I think this game is going to last for a longtime.

The other part you were right about is the scuff controller, when you said that I was a bit skeptical because I played Destiny for so long with a regular controller and I was for the most part fine, but with the complexity of buttons you have to hit to really jump correctly through the boards a regular controller makes it damn near impossible. I spent nearly an hour just running around trying to master the bullet jump and I just couldnt do it and instead ended up running around like you would in Destiny which got pretty aggravating. Luckily that will be short lived since I just ordered a Scuff yesterday.

Anyhow, all in all, my first experience with the game is pretty god damn positive and I have to say I am pretty stoked to have found a replacement to D2.

My ONLY complaint that I have right now is the graphics and the art of the characters, Destiny was just plain bad ass. All the different characters were absolutely stunning in D1 and D2 and you really felt like you were playing a true futuristic guy and shooting realistic aliens. In this game it just seems a bit "grainy" if you will, and the characters strike me as not quite finished.....if that makes any sense. However it may just be me because I am not running a 4k TV at the moment. Other than that, great recommendation man.

I was the same way brother. I'm still learning shit and I haven't even scratched the surface. I never gave this game much attention as I thought it was more of a PvP game (don't know why I thought that?). I didn't realize that it was a complete game that is hundreds of times bigger than Destiny.

I'm in the same boat as you with the mod system although I have a better understanding about it now. Basically you want mods that boost your health, shield, damage, and then mods that add elemental damages to your weapons. But Jesus Christ there are thousands of mods to choose from. You'll just have to play around with them and see what changes each mod makes to your overall stats on the left side of the screen when you are placing mods. Then you factor in the polarities of mods and if you match those polarities then it halves the amount of space that mod takes up so you can slot more mods in your warframe or weapons. So yeah... it's fucking confusing considering everything on your character takes mods lol.

Yeah... I tried to play with a regular controller and it was just hard. That said... I've played with a Scuf controller for a few years now so I'm used to that so it made it even harder for me. I've got my jump button mapped to the left paddle so all I have to do is hit L1 and the left paddle and the Bullet jump is simple after that. Plus you can change directions in mid jump which is handy since your thumbs never leave the sticks.

I'm assuming you aren't running a PS4 Pro? The characters in Warframe makes Destiny look like a second gen console port in my opinion. The character in D2 all look the same. One thing you have to remember is you are running a starting frame so yeah... it doesn't have much to offer in terms of looks. But once you get some new frames that's where things start to shine.

You tell me the characters in Destiny look better than this?

If you feel the game looks "grainy" you might have film grain set in the options menu. If it is set uncheck it and that should help with the looks of the surroundings.

Nope, I'm running a Pro. I'll have to look at the film grain in the options now. You may have just made my day.

Yeah, my screen doesnt look that clear, which leads me to believe that the film grain option may need to be tweaked.

Mine looks better than Destiny ever did. There are a bunch of options in the display portion of the menu. Film Grain is one of them. I can't remember if it was checked at the start or not? I changed a lot of things in the menu. Running 4K helps also.

What I was really talking about is the adds, they just kind of seem half assed to me, like they were half way thought out but not finished, but maybe the weird shape of the skinny leg blob body dudes are supposed to look that way, they just dont strike me as menacing if you will. Whatever, I'm just happy to be in a game again where I have a pretty good idea of how things run in a 1st person shooter and it does "kind" of bring skills over from Destiny.....kind of.

The one thing I will say is the apprehension I had at first about whether I would like it or not has vanished.

Oh... I agree with you there. The Grineer look silly and half fleshed out. And sometimes their actions are a bit strange. They will get stuck in strange places in the map every once in a while and you're like WTF? The Corpus aren't as bad. But as you progress through the game the adds really start to get interesting and much fucking stronger lol.

But I'm with you on the apprehension I had about the game. I now know how deep it is and I know I have A LOT to learn. But that is fine with me. Give me something to grind for and a way to get that item and I'm happy. Learning the game is half the fun.

@RearViewMirror I havent delved into it as much as you, is it going to be like Destiny where xboxers cant play with PS4 guys and PC cant play with either? Or did they miraculously figure out how to meld everyone to be able to play together?

There will never be cross platform play between the PS4 and Xbox and PC. Sony is the issue with this problem. Xbox and PC allow it and want it but Sony refuses to allow it. The only exception to that is Fortnite. Sony had to cave given that Fortnite is a billion dollar company and money goes a long way. But for AAA games no. There will be no cross platform play. Same with Warframe I suppose.

This is what your warframe should look like moving around the map. And if you tell me the frames look worse than the characters in Destiny... I don't know what to say lol.

*EDIT* Actually click on the video to make it full size as it looks better

Vectis Prime Sniper. I got it from having a Twitch Prime account. You can't get it (for free) anymore. You either have to farm for it or buy the Mesa Prime bundle.

You'll be able to get Trinity Prime Frame but no weapons. Trinity is an awesome healing frame. You just need to know when to use your heals.

I can promise you since I did play the closed alpha and without giving away to much that as much fun as Warframe is you are going to multiply that by about 100 in Anthem. As long as the story line is good we will be golden!

    Hey Rob, been a while.

Yeah, I am really looking forward to Anthem since I have been watching the trailers and gameplay vids. Looks awesome. I think we will all have multiple suits of armor. From what I saw I think everyone needs to have a different load out to get through the quests.
