I am bias to TOS and TNG but Voyager was really good. After season three I never missed a new episode. When 7 of 9 joined the crew I had to make sure I had a box of Kleenex next to me as I watched. I have a Chi Chi named Spock and my greatest collection of TV memorabilia is Star Trek. Yes, I did buy a bottle Ten Forward Vodka and a bottle of James T. Kirk Whiskey! My oldest Star Trek merch besides TNG toys of the era is my Star Trek Chevron Fossil Pocket Watch that came out during the TOS 20th Anniversary.

Just watched the trailer, and agree that it looks good. Thanks for the headsup. It's only showing on CBS All Access, which I dont subscribe to. Might have to reconsider just for this though ...

There were some issues with the story and the unpopularity of Star Trek Discovery and their timeline manipulation. Essentially, DISCO Season One though I enjoyed it, comes off too Preachy about Political Correctness and has characters to back up that PC-ness. Also, the look of the Klingons is too scary and not quite humanoid enough (Somewhere I heard the makeup designer came from the Alien and Predator movies, don't quote me on it though). PICARD has already gone through two iterations and almost didn't make it to production. YouTube has a whole series on PICARD and DISCO and the issue with going against Star Trek cannon. Right now, there are two different production rights for Star Trek. One is for the Paramount/CBS television rights to TOS, TNG, Voyager, Enterprise, DS-9 and original TOS & TNG movies. Then there is the J.J. Abrams rights which DISCO and PICARD are being made under. The difference in those rights and the Paramount rights say the any new Star Trek projects made under the Abram's rights must be 20% different in everyway from the Paramount story line and in look of the characters, sets, and cannon story.

That is why the new Star Trek Trilogy by Abrams had a different time line and slightly different feel. Now, CBS Access managed to get NETFLIX to pay for Season One of Disco (Discovery) but Netflix was unhappy with the viewership mainly because people rejected the difference in Cannon. Season TWO has fixed the storyline to bring it back to cannon as much as possible. Well, CBS paid for Season Two of DISCO but refuse to pay for Season One of Picard because NETFLIX pulled out of funding of any Star Trek Series PERIOD. So PICARD was not going to happen but, someone who I don't recall agreed to fund PICARD and part of Season Three of Disco.

I have CBS ACCESS it is pretty cheap overall plus there is some really good content there besides Star Trek (All SEASONS of STAR TREK EVERYTHING CAN BE FOUND ON CBS ACCESS). Still, there is a lot of great other stuff. So, even if you decide you don't want to pay year around CBS ALL ACCESS allows for you to sign up, watch then discontinue service without penalty when you resume it. That was my original intent back in Season One of Disco but I thought the monthly fee was worth it.

So... I watched one of my favorite episodes last night- "Amok Time".

That's when Spock gets his 7-year itch and they race off to Vulcan for the mating/combat ritual.

It has one of my favorite scenes when Kirk asks "What do you mean survivors?"

The wizened Vulcan priestess replies "Dis fight is to de death." Then the camera zooms into Kirk's face as he exhibits a classic "D'oh!" moment.

I watched that tonight as well.

Last night I was a very interesting documentary by Gene Roddenberry’s son. Learned a lot about what was going on when TOS was first aired and how the whole franchise evolved.

Can't wait for Picard. I guess Seven of Nine is also going to be in it , among other Voyager cast members.
