Yeah, I got in a fender bender with it, but it wasn't a big deal, I was braking at the time, impact at maybe 5-10mph, honestly just enough to cause damage (I paid him out of pocket.)

Like I said, the bar itself is very stout. I think the bar held up fine and translated the impact to the flange it mounts to on one side. Apparently avid sells brackets to beef this flange up if you want to sturdy it up some.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.

Not going to use the local guys. I had hoped it would save money but looks like no.

Haven't decided if I want to add a leaf or completely replace the crappy stock leafs. I want new shocks all around and new coils up front too.

Too many options and all a lot more $$ than I want to spend.

I'm sort of stuck between 2 different lift kits.
Toytec Ultimate kit (eiback coils, 5100 struts/shocks, AAL)
OME kit (884 coils, OME struts/shocks, top spacer, Dakar leaf set)

THe OME/Dakar is about $170 more than the 5100 kit. Worth it?
Would Dakar ride much different than AAL?
Is OME/Dakar setup superior to 5100/AAL for long term reliability?

if your mechanically inclined you could rebuild your springs to have lift and better load capacity.

Well, a picture of it on the truck is in my gallery. As far as the damage, I'll see if I can, but I'm not going to be in town again until the new year. It's somewhat hard to explain without a picture of the bar off the truck, but it bolts on where the aluminum front bumper extension bolts in behind your bumper. It does so with two 90 degree angle iron pieces that loop under your bumper and go back.

If it's bent, when it comes off, I'll be able to just set it flat on the ground and it won't be even, it'll be obvious in a heartbeat.

Then, secondly, if you want to buy it, you can bolt it up right there (it's 4 bolts, takes no time at all) and see if it looks good to you before you pay me.

Alright, well I'm in no rush. I looked in your gallery, but only see or picture of a jeep. But I got a buddy coming down here on the 7th of January, so if we could get answers before then, I'll just get him to pay you and pick it up an bring it to me...

Just keep me in the loop bud...

Oh, duh, sorry. Check out my build thread, I've got pictures there. It also shows where the hella's are currently mounted, should you want to buy them too.

I'm supposed to be back Jan 1, I can probably do that. Failing that, my wife's parents live in Cullman, AL, and we go right through chattanooga on our way, I could certainly bring it next trip (probably some time in feb or something.)

It's all about how much money u wanna spend. A full leaf pack is ALWAYS better then an aal. The 2 really cannot be compared. IMO an aal is a complete waste of money unless u r solely going for looks and don't care about ride quality. As for the front, a coilover with the right length coils and right # coils is a much better option then a top plate spacer. When u add a spacer u r basically extending the length of the coil but instead of more springs u are adding a solid block of aluminum with no cushion to it. It WILL be a rougher ride. As far as the diff in OME kit and Toytech, OME is a complete kit used by very many people, who abuse their shit, and it seems to hold up to the abuse pretty damn good. Great kit. And for Toytech, u are using eibach springs, which are the same springs that Fox and King use, just instead of a Fox or King shock u r using a 5100. Which IMO is the best non tunable shock, for the price, u can buy.

I did that mod, and no offense to Gideon, but from my experience it is the best suspension solution available for our trucks. Also probably the cheapest. I've ridden in friends trucks that had Dakars on them and it rode like shit. Stiff as a brick. The thing about this leaf pack mod is that you use longer donor leaves, which have more flexibility than standard AAL's, and the older American steel cannot be beaten. Go to a junkyard and look at some old broke-down rusted out Chevy's from the 70's and early 80's. Then look at the leaf springs on them. You just can't kill 'em.
