Oh well lol Saturday I should be finished up with my test around one.... Which puts me in Memphis around 11-12... Which mean party our asses off till 6-7

 

So I think I'm going to miss having a backup camera...

I went with the 2... Check out this post and you can see them on my truck. The bumper tube goes right in front of them, so you don't see them as well on my truck.

Why not get a USB converter to use the camera in the tailgate. You can plug in a USB to the iPad and have a icon on the iPad to use for back up. I bought a plug on eBay that takes a RCA plug to USB for my video camera to use on my Christmas lights. 10 bucks

I would much rather use the ipad screen for backup if possible.. And if you could clarify how this would work I would appreciate it. To my knowledge the iPad mini only has 1 port (lightning), and it will have to be used to charge/play the ipad through my speakers.

And my '06 doesn't have the camera prewired. Which is no problem, I picked up a handle off eBay for $10 on my last truck, and I can find a regular camera pretty cheap... But I just don't quite understand how I can get that camera to integrate with the iPad.

 

Can you get a USB hub? Plug the iPad in to the hub with a mini to regular USB. Then and other things you can use for the hub extra ports like a PC. The adaptor I used was this

The USB hub can be used with 12 volt if you get the right one like.

I feel like I'm missing something very important here... But the iPad doesn't have a USB port, right?

 

The new Ipads don't have the 30 pin cables like the old apple produts. The new pin in/out cable is different. But it still has a USB on the other end to plug into a PC, charger, MacBook anything this is you communications cable to interface with anything in a hub. Read this it has helped me.

Ah HAH! Well thank you for being patient with me... I'll check into all your links and see what I can figure out. Having the backup camera on the iPad would be tits!

 

The part that wasn't making sense was what to do with the USB cable.

I'm getting a guy to fab me a dash kit for the mini, and he is integrating the lightning cable into the dash kit... So I thought I was going to have to plug that USB into my single DIN via USB to charge/play sound.

So I guess I can get the piece you're talking about and hook multiple things via USB to it, then hook that to the headunit...

This isn't life or death info right now, I don't have the truck or the iPad mini... Just trying to get all my ducks in a row.

 

As far as I can see a hub would work but you know how apple is about their products and not letting people use the info. I would pick the brain of a apple rep to make sure though.

 

I'll check into it...

One last question... Say all this stuff works the way it should. Say I get the hub and everything hooks up seamlessly. How would I get the camera to show up on my iPad? Do you have any experience here?
