Yes, my fuse tap is currently plugged into the INJ fuse. But DRLs still turn on every few hours even when the car is off.

    Thanks, I like yours too

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/efi-3-vs-inj-fuses.602078/#post-20250177

There are other ignition sources in the main engine fuse box with a T harness, @Puppypunter had his "from the stalk" SR OEM LED harness using that approach, but it's a bunch more work for something that ideally might be simple.

I dunno what to say really, except that I do wish SR/SR5 had ECU DRL in an accessible connector in the engine bay somewhere, and I totally wish we had a nice clean ignition source for all of us, that would be fantastic. I think ignition is just a lot easier to tap in the cab and send through the firewall.

I am in the same basic boat with my 2005 SR, as I need to identify an ignition source for gentex, drl, fog, etc. I'll most likely use POUETLET1 and a new stalk but that's a bunch of work. Short term I'm likely going to either do two add-a-fuses for the gentex or a T off the radio 10 pin which has all the goodies and is pretty easy to access.

do you have a pic on where the AC fuse is? I need to try that out since I've tried tapping into the EFI and INJ fuse but my DRLs still turn on even if my car is off

Did you pay extra for it? Pretty sure it's an additional charge when you order it.

The harness that comes with it is for L shaped white drl on halogen headlights iirc.

So I installed the gen 2 XBs into my 2020 trd sport with halogens.

I noticed without the fuse tap that the startup sequence only occured when taking off park like others have said.

Adding the fuse tap (10A INJ Fuse) makes the sequence happen at the proper time when starting .

However with or without the fuse tap installed I have bright DRLs when it's just the DRL. As soon as the low beams or marking lights come on the DRL dims. Is this normal? I thought the fuse tap allows for constant bright drl?

Drls always dim when lowbeams turn on. It's the same with oems iirc. It's a safety thing.

Fuse tap is for start up sequence, and if you have an SR5 like me, it gives white drls when stalk is set to off. So basically always have drls on when using tap on an SR5.

Okay thanks! Sounds like I have everything hooked up correctly then. It's a shame the instructions they come with are completely bassackwards

The instructions were awful lol. I didn't use the recommended efi fuse tap spot because your headlights will turn on randomly when it runs systems in the middle of the night. So I used the inj fuse tap above it.

    Help!

I bought a pair of “open box, never installed” XB Gen 2’s with amber DRL. My stock headlights are halogen with an LED DRL.

I took my truck apart and tried installing my passenger side headlight and realized that some of the connectors didn’t have matches, so I assumed I needed an adapter harness and put the truck back together.

Later when I looked at my driver side headlight I saw that it had this harness attached to it.

    FCC4B1CB-F484-4E15-A51D-14A786323CD7.jpg

The passenger side does not have this harness and is just the wires coming out of the headlight.

    B0FC8B60-F459-443A-AA2B-8367FEF69EC5.jpg

so I went to Extreme Terrain and purchased 2 of these harnesses..

I know the image isn’t the same as the one that I believe I’m needing, but it says the product may be different than the image, and they also use the same image for the OEM LED conversion adapters.. so did I buy the right harness? Was this harness supposed to come with the headlights? If not, where could I find this harness?

Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help. I’m beyond confused.

there are no markings or numbers on the harness

From my understanding, the one from extreme terrain is to convert full oem led headlights to morimoto xbs (5+plugs into 1 plug). This is probably not the one you need, so you should return them

The final picture you posted looks like the one that came with my morimoto xb headlights. See this post for pictures I took from my harness provided by morimoto.

I don't know where you would find another, reach out to morimoto or try some Google searches.

I didn't have to use that harness because I drive an SR5, but I'm holding onto mine incase I ever decided to part my truck out and sell

    Lot's o' plastidip.
Just installed some XB gen2's on my 2016 Tacoma Off-Road.

Does anyone know what would cause intermittent fast blinking for the turn signals? I searched this thread but couldn't find anyone with the same issue.
