Ya we will see what time does. I am not worried about durability. People have been plastidipping their wheels for year and years and the experience when done right is usually very good. Everyone seems satisfied.

Too much effort and I don't have Jack Stands. Prep took 5 minutes a tire.

Yes, just tire shine the wheel, clean the rim edge with alcohol to make sure none is on the rim and spray it, after it’s dry just peel the overspray off it comes right off. another protip, to get plastidip off just blast it with WD40 and it almost starts melting like butter.

Also taking off the wheels almost makes it harder. If you don’t have jack stands then you’d have to do them one at a time and with a spray can you can’t spray the can horizontal for that long or it wouldn’t come out. Just mask the back side of the rims with some plastic bags and then pull them out afterwards.

Good advice. My neighbor told me about this right after I started with the cards. I did like the card method for the over-spray. But placing cards in sucked.

Plastidipped my wife's 4runner the same way today. Wrong forum but I'm sure you could all appreciate. Turned out pretty good.

Painted lugs don’t fare too well. Even the ones you buy powder coated on Amazon they scratch after a couple of rotations. I stick with silver lugs now. Doesn’t bother me.

20190208_131441.jpg I did mine approx 2 years ago. Holding up great lots of off roading. I will say this, to make them look great after you wash your rig, I use a product called Instant shine( Napa auto parts). It's silicone based and lasts quit a while. Better than Armour all. I use it on all the plastic. Have not found as anything better. Good luck

    They look good painted black.

A local place quoted me $80/wheel to have them sandblasted and powder coated satin black, which is pretty good.

But I have to have the wheels and tires dismounted, find temporary wheels and remount the tires to drive around while they paint the wheels. When the wheels are ready then have the wheels and tires dismounted again to have the painted wheels remounted.

    I just can’t be bothered.

A complete set of 16x8 Level 8 MK6 wheels costs $480...minus whatever my OR wheels fetch on Craigslist.
