I had the new leaf springs and steering damper installed yesterday. It did not take it completely away. It still vibrates at the exact same speed as before (20-35 mph), but it's much less pronounced now. Overall I'm happy and it was worth it.

Mind telling us how you were able to get the dealer to do this under warranty on an Offroad package (given the TSB states it does not apply to the OR)? My VIN aligns w/ the TSB but I have a '17 OR and this issue is absolutely present on my truck and getting worse by the day...

I had mine done. It's an OR. The TSB does not state it does not apply to OR, only that all '16 non-OR are applicable.

Ok. My challenge then is that I have a '17 and will likely be begging for the TSB.

"This bulletin applies to ALL 2016 model year Tacoma vehicles NOT equipped with the TRD Off-Road. Package option.  Reference the table below for 2016 model year Tacoma vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs."

Dealer blew off my mention of the braking at around 20mph also. Gotta love these guys. I plan on calling ahead for my 15K service and insisting the drive line angle be measured and I get a copy of the results as well as showing/pushing the hood glue separation issue.

Still gonna drive the sh*t out of it in the meantime!

The issue about mine being an off-road never came up. They measured my drive line angles and found that they were out of spec when I told them about the vibration and the tsb (I had to give them the tsb number because they couldn't find it).

I had a persistent clunk when coming to a stop. My dealership opened a case with Toyota. Today I was told there is a new bulletin to fix the issue. Since they opened a case it is able to get fixed even though they have started a TSB campaign. I have TRD OR. He thought they would start a campaign soon to fix the issue.

My 2016 Tacoma does the same thing. It primarily does this when truck is cold and come to a stop. The transmission hits hard and loud. Took it back to dealer and they said it's normal...don't think so!

Do you know of a bulletin number by chance? Mine has done the same thing for months now. I took it in and was able to replicate it for the sales guy but of course the mechanics couldn't replicate it. Mostly happens when it's colder and now it's getting warm out but it definitely doesn't sound good by any means. It's about the last thing I need fixed before she runs normal. Thanks for the help!

I don't know the number. I am getting it done on Wednesday. I will post it when I get my paperwork. They haven't started an all out campaign so I don't know if they will do it without an open case.

Vibration finally fixed. I have been driving my 2016 TDR OFF ROAD access cab for 16 months with the annoying vibration. I took it back a couple weeks after delivery and I was told the usual " nothing wrong with your truck sir , that's just the tires and its normal". finally this TSB came out in December so I called corporate to ask why it didn't cover the off road trucks. A nice woman named Kathy typed my VIN into her master Toyota computer and came up with 26 TSB's for my truck and TSB-0171-16 was one of them. the language is confusing. Yes it does covers all non off road trucks but it doesn't exclude all off road trucks. I took it back to my dealer and showed them the TSB and told them I talked to Kathy and she said yes this covers my truck. He showed the service manager and quickly came out and said ok sir, we will order all the new parts today and call you when they're in. next day they were in I took it back and had the new leaf spring installed which have a shim on them to add some positive camber to the rear diff. The truck finally drives like it should after 16 month of aggravation and disappointment. Just in time because I was ready to just go trade it in and buy another GMC. I had rev1 of the trans software already on it and they also installed rev2 while it was there. I also read on here last year about Tacos being shipped with low ATF. I couldn't get my dealer to check it , they said its checked during the pre delivery ... YEA...OK... we all know the "techs" just pencil whip the pre delivery so I checked it myself and it was 7/8 of a quart low. I topped it off and noticed better cold shifting right away. Now I will take it back for the rear diff recall. I checked my diff bolts and they are all good but Ill take it back anyway just so its on record incase I have any problems later.

My dealer here in canada still insists its my tires and that theres no TSB. Even though I can feel the same damn vibration in his truck I had for a week while they fixed mine...

    Denied yet again.

Got a new case manager, who said she reached out to field specialists. I told them about all the other TRD Off roads that are getting the TSB done, but basically, what corporate told me, is that all those people on the forums are straight up lying, and that it would be impossible for this TSB to help them, cause the TRDs use 100% different springs and shocks.

I'm so angry I'm shaking. I'm sure these bastards will try and use my "normal characteristic" against me when I try to trade my truck in.

Is this TSB still valid? Exact same vibration on my truck. Toyota says it's because of my lift. I knew they're were full of shit. I hate dealships.

Mine has the VIN and they denied my warranty? Should I show them my glock next time? :)

if you are within the specified VIN range and mileage requirements, then yes it is still valid.

they can decline warranty repairs if the problem can be proved it was caused by the modifications.
otherwise, they should still cover it. you are allowed to modify your vehicle, warranty is only "voided" for components that failed due to the modifications.. not "full warranty void" as some people seem to think.
