Use this as Heat Trace to wrap the canister.

I think think my fuel lines that I am using are not the problem, as nothing freezes in them, I took it out today and replaced with the regular line. I think even if I wrapped the can with something it is just a pain in the ass for me and another thing to remove when I empty the can. the Crawford Performace Can that someone linked is was to expensive to buy for 400$ wow.

Thinking back about the water/ice in my catch can I think it is from the constant unfreezing while driving and then freezing with the condensation during winter, because previous times that I emptied the can before it became winter here there was just oil in there, about a cup or so.

was given the braided lines, but he said they were 1/2" which were to big but just clamp down the hose clamps a little tighter and works perfectly. sorry for the late delay been busy.

    sweet. miles?

frozen oil catch cans makes me glad i live in CA :D

A small update to my setup... I kept getting a hissing sound that would go away after tightening the hose clamps holdings my steel braided lines. It would be fine for a while but eventually it would start again. I decided to go with a good quality rubber fuel line I found at a local autopart store instead and the sound has not come back since I installed them. I think either the hose clamps kept loosening up with the vibration and contraction/expansion due to the cold weather or there really wasn't enough rubber on my steel braided lines to make a good seal when clamped down, or combination of both.

Just received the Moroso catch can, very nice, easily exceeded my expectations. Installed it in about 30 minutes or so. It really gives me piece of mind that all that crap isn't running through my supercharger and valves. Only thing I wish I did is add one the day I drove it off the lot. I'll post pics of the results after 1,000 miles or so.

Here are mine to add. The super humid Houston weather makes for a very milky mixture. More so in the rare but cooler days.

Uplander can you post pics of your setup? I have a supercharger and would like to install a can but am having challenges where to put it.

    Thanks man

Why are you letting unmetered air into your engine? All air into the engine is metered through the maf. In your setup all the air isn't metered through the maf.

I was waiting for that question. ;)

I'm not. You're looking at it backwards.

Both valve covers vent on their own into the can. Then the gasses escape through the filter. The port on the upper plenum where the PCV hose is normally attached, is used by the EVAP solenoid now. The hose from just behind the throttle body, which used to feed that solenoid, now feed the vacuum block. :D

I don't like that filter being right there though. Occasionally I can smell the gasses. So I will end up puting the filter on the driver side valve cover, then have a -10AN hose go from the passenger side valve cover, to the catch can, then to just after the filter, in front of the turbo. It will clean things up nicely.

It still is unmetered. I knew you couldn't have that filter there in that manner. I figured you like driving it as it wouldn't run good if at all. here is an article with explains it fairly well.

Mine is not unmetered because I have have completely removed the pcv system from the intake system. They are completely independent. In the pictures the open spaces of the valve train/timing cover area vent without any help from the intake system. And the intake system does not have any unmetered "leaks". Trust me.

I appreciate the link, and while helpful for others, my engine setup is in now way like factory. ;)

If it is more comforting, I went through various iterations until I properly routed my hoses so that I would not create a "leak". This way, the way I plan on doing it, or the way that I setup Toon714's are the only safe and effective ways to setup the PCV system, on our engines when running a boost setup that is pre throttle body. Otherwise two things can happen.
    1) You cause a vacuum leak a sensed by the ecu because extra unmetered air is getting into the egine which causes it to idle poorly and stumble badly. CEL's. And oscillating AFR's.
    2) You will pressurize the valve train/crank case area. Which causes leaks at the timing cover and valve seals, as well as reduced power.

Trust me sir. My PCV hose setup is proper. :)

After installing my catch can and driving for about 650 miles I got about 4 teaspoons full of gunk out of it. See attached pictures...
