    I get the concern....but you could literally plumb in a soup can and get results....anything will catch oil and water decently. So long as you think its pretty enough and it keeps the vacuum flow properly it will do well!

    Im not sure if this question was asked or not, but i notice that there are 2 pcv lines, 1 on each valve cover.
    How come only 1 side is connected to the catch can?

    I remember this was talked about awhile back and somewhere in the line the passenger side has minimal effect compared to the driver side. But you can have both sides tied together to the catch can. Torspd or other members probably has better detailed info on this I'm quite sure then me.

    That inspector was trying way too hard.

    Before emission rules required PCVs, many cars had breather filters that allowed engines to "breathe" as needed. PCVs recirculate air from within the crankcase back into the engine's air intake. Under normal operating conditions, this air contains vaporized oil that (when introduced to the air intake) lowers your effective octane rating and condenses on the inside of the intake. This problem is exacerbated on forced induction (e.g., supercharged) vehicles where the oil condenses on the intercooler, lowering its efficiency.

    Unless you forget to empty it (or run across an over-eager inspection tech), I can't think of any downside to having a catch can.

    Because of the direction of the flow. The driver side valve cover is the last point before all of the vapors get sucked into the upper intake plenum. Intake > valve covers > upper plenum. This is why the can is installed between the driver side line. As its function will be optimized.
