I bought my '03 tacoma used from a dealership. It was a trade in with 82k miles on it when I bought it. I've now put 3k on it and ready for my first oil change. There is no sticker anywhere to know what oil the previous owner used, what would you guys recommend I go with since I don't know what it's been used to drinking ?

I'd go with synthetic over conventional oil. I use Amsoil, and it's a great oil. It has a 25K mile rating (although I change it at 10K) and has excelled at the many tests it's been put through. It's a bit more expensive than your normal synthetic such as Mobil 1 or Castrol oil, but it's worth it IMO.

    I second the Amsoil

85k on the truck and I run castrol GTX High Milage. Run it in my prelude too, seems to work well.

^x2...fwiw, i've used Mobil 1 in my vehicles, religiously, and never had engine problems. (realistically, as long as you change dino every 3k, you should be good...Toyota engines are pretty much bulletproof, in my experience.)

Any quality brand name oil of the right weight, synthetic preferably.

I use Royal Purple, but almost all the major brands on the shelf are fine.
