Changed oil today. Drained the oil pan and only 3 qts came out. Changed the filter and then added only 3 qts back in just to be safe. Ran the engine for 10 mins after the change and everything was fine. Took it out on the road for 5 mins and plumes of white and blue smoke is coming from the exhaust. I checked the dipstick and now its showing its over filled??? What?! Worse yet oil is now leaking from my throttle body and intake. So, drained it again. And now only 1 qt comes out? Dude! Is there somewhere my oil might be sitting that I don't know about?? I have no leaks so Where is all my oil going? Any ideas?

3 quarts, sounds like you drained the transmission, then added 3 quarts to the motor oil...What color was it when it came out?h

When you ran it, that probaby got the fluid out of the torque converter(if auto), which is why you drained an additional quart out. I'd say tow it to the dealer and have them fix it.

This is probably true. Stop driving your truck and fix it. Look up a video on how to do stuff first. Mistakes happen.

you drained the transmission fluid by accident and not the motor oil. exactly waht plug to drain from is confusing and has happend to other members in the past..but at least you did not pour transmission fluid into the radiator/coolant bottle. :cookiemonster:

recommmend in towing your taco and not driving to a dealer to have the transmission fluid level properly topped off as there is a very specifc procedure in doing so.

Do exactly this, DO NOT do anything else! In the future you need a 14mm wrench to change your oil, not an allen wrench!
