Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
Bought mine in March and will be lucky to have 5k on it next month for the 1st scheduled service. (I have two motorcycles that share errand and commuting duty)
That said, I drained the original oil & changed the filter at 2k miles.
While at it, I opted to replace the plastic housing with a metal factory one.
After the dealer service, it'll get changed at 5k intervals no matter who does it, me or them.

Try drilling a hole in your canister wrench. I had this same issue. The hydrolock keeps the wrench from coming off easily.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I just bought a new wrench and canister to get the job done. I had chipped the plastic canister anyway getting it off. (Not the Tacoma, but a Rav4 that I had the oil changed at the dealer.) No more oil changes for them after that experience. I think it is likely that they would not have bothered getting it off, just drain and fill the oil instead.

I had the same problem with my Rav4, the filter housing was so tight when I finally got it off it cracked the plastic, I had to replace with the metal housing. Of course the dealer was the last one to change the oil, I won't be going back to that dealer, that was the last of a long list of problems with them.

This style canister can't almost tighten itself over time. Just needs to be barely snug. If you crank it down, you won't get it off next time.

I got to admit...This is the funniest thing I have ever read...I was LMAO......I could just picture you trying to get that plug back in hole with hot oil running out all over the place....Reminds me of a joke about a monkey trained to pull a cork out of a over stuffed pig......he was not trained to put it back in...but you should have seen him try.....

5th gen 4Runners have this same setup. Kinda threw me when I first saw it on my 4R. But after 3-4 times it's pretty straight forward (albeit not as easy as a canister). There's a great write-up on T4R showing the entire process.

Did my first oil change today......10 min to get skid plate off......dropping oil was simple.....But.....how the hell do you get the excess oil plug out of the plastic canister? I turned the plug and the whole thing turned.....eventually gave up and just slowly turned it oil it popped out. Little oil spilled into pan was nothing to scream about.....change filter and o-riing and popped it back in...Buttoned everything up and added 6qts and 6oz of Mobile 1 0w20......fired her up and checked oil level...No leaks and 10 min to get skid plat back on...It was fun to get off though for the first time......It was difficult to get a good reading on the dipstick because the oil is so thin...but I dod measure it and looks like everything is ok....I guess I will ask dealer to take the plug out at next change and then I can do it going forward in between dealer oil changes.....First truck and I am happy to work on her....thanks to everyone here for great help....

I just hit it with my 3/8 electric impact. Takes the plug out without spinning the whole canister

I had the same problem too with removing the oil plug. It turned the whole thing. Did your gasket get stuck to the oil pan?

Has anyone tried the supertech oil filter yet? It looks decent, but not sure. I always have been sticking with the oem filters :playball:

I think OEM filters are best.. you can get a deal on E-Bay buying in bulk..!!

Okay guys I went to change the oil this morning removed skid and preceded all the stuff that goes along with this installed service pipe oil flowed for about 5 seconds then stopped WTF? And yes there is oil in the engine as it still is registering on the stick....

The service pipe only drains the oil filter housing - hence the 5 seconds of oil.
The oil pan drain plug still has to be removed to let the main quantity of oil from the engine.
Make sure you drain the engine oil and not the transmission oil.
Things would get really complicated if that happened.
    =)

You only drained the filter housing. You need to remove the drain plug on the engine oil pan.

Don't take this the wrong way. But you might want to have a friend help that is knowledable in car repairs so you don't mess anything up
