Oil Filter Drain

What size hose will i need to run the oil filter drain down to the pan. I can't find Chris's DIY....I know he mentioned what size tubing to use.

I mean you gotta have the right hose for the job... Thats what she said!!

 

I stuck a water bottle in there and it stayed. Then i gave it to my friend to drink.

A 20oz gatorade bottle sits in there real nice to catch the oil, thats what i use.

 

JUST DON'T FORGET THE BOTTLE AFTER YOU'RE DONE!

 

I've tried it both ways...the hose works WAY better. Get a section of 5/16" inside diameter hose and hose clamp. I leave mine in place and have it coming out the hole in the skid plate. After it quits dripping I cap off the end with a plastic screw type plug...never had one drop on the driveway.

 

I tried the tube...using the water bottle works better, faster, cheaper.

ahhhh...The keyword was Ultimate oil change.. I will buy some 5/16 tubing and some zip ties I should be fine.

16 oz plastic Coke bottle.

 

My "Green Bean" can works too.

 

I just stick an empty quart oil can under it and catch it into that. Saves me the time of the hose and cleans up just as quick/clean.

Problem is, by the time you’re done with the job you’re all jacked up on Gatorade, having had to chug the whole bottle prior.

 

I just stuff a solo cup underneath there, lol.

 

Remove new oil filter from box, place 2-3 paper towels in box, place shop rag or towel on top of battery, lubricate new filter seal and place filter on top of battery, place a can of brake-kleen in reach of filter, loosen old filter slightly so it can then be removed by hand, place oil filter box under drain pipe and hold in place with one hand, with other hand remove old filter and let drain down drain pipe, place old filter on rag on top of battery open end up, install new filter, use brake-kleen to clean any residue from drain pipe, remove filter box.

 

The ol water bottle trick works best IMO.
