Hopefully my last post until I order everything, I know evan and yota are probably getting tired of my indecisiveness (don't worry, I'll credit you guys in my build thread) OK so 885's with a 1/4 spacer or just 886 and possibly remove a leaf later from the dakar's? I have my relentless bumpers and skids on order but anyone familiar with the process knows that those puppies take time. So considering I don't plan on undercarriage armor, would it be best to get the 885's adding a spacer as necessary which I am thinking will offer a smoother ride in the interim or just go with 886 and tough out the rough ride until I get the bumper on? "Help I feel like I'm running around in circles" - less than two month till I'm out of this place called the Stan. Can't wait to start modding it up.
    Thanks. -Max

Whatever you decide on, make sure you get the longer studs put on top when you have them assembled. That way if you decide you want 1/2" spacers you won't have to take the fronts apart.

    chyknees,
As you can see my front part leaf spring move to the right, last night it was all the way to the left and squeaking . You can see the front bushing on the left. The other side is good. I saw a couple Tacoma have the same problem with Dakar leaf spring. Mine is less than a month old.

I'm up in the air brother. Given the amount my 886x settled, I wouldn't recommend the 885x with any amount of armor. However, the stiffer ride of the 886 might start to bug you before the bumper arrives (I doubt that though, if you've spent any amount of time in humvees or mraps). On the other hand, you are not planning on skids, but I'd wager the first time you smash a crossmember you'll be ordering them Ricky-tic. Also, keep in mind potential use of the truck (mall crawler/trail rig). Things to consider.

I'd go with the 886. Let them settle. Get the bumpers on. Re-evaluate the lift height. If the 886 are too much trade them straight up for a set of 885 from someone on TW. If you need spacers or to remove a leaf, do so. After all that the truck should sit right where you want it.

Thanks for the help gents. I know a ask a lot of questions but being on the other side of the world from my truck all I can do is go through the forum and ask questions about what other people have done. I think I'm ready to go with the 886's Ill get the longer studs on top just in case but I'm expecting more rake if anything and will probably just remoce-a-leaf to make it near level. Wheels (KMC Enduros) and Tires (Goodyear Duratracs) are getting ordered in the next day or two. Probably going with 265/75/16 unless someone can give me a damn good reason to go with 285's. I've done a decent amount of studying up on tires and I'm not sure the hit in mileage is going to be worth the bigger tires....... THANKS

    Plenty of info here-->http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/155849-255-85-r16-owners-experience.html

essentially you get the mileage a 265 offers, but the height (actually a tad taller) of a 285. Only thing is there are not a lot of choices of tires in this size.

Ok finally got the funding to get the struts mounts so I can just pull out the old stuff and put these in. But from the kit I see no nuts included, wonder what size and thread I need.
    http://www.autopartsnetwork.com/sm5640-suspension-strut-mounting-kit-kyb/ad8_egaXuJnEZ

I've got a friend who has a hydraulic spring compressor so he said he compress them and install the caps but I'll need new nuts for it. I guess I could buy some from advance but I'd rather have the black coated nuts to prevent rust

Getting ready too. If i can get someone to answer my other thread about strut mounts. The 885's with a 1/4 spacer will give me the height i want but i also plan on changing my UCA's as soon as my stuff sells. If i had to do it all over and hadn't bought the OME's i'd be doing a spindle lift instead.

seemed to have run into an issue...with dual batteries, my bumper, skids, sliders, and fullsize(255/85) spare, looks like my driver side lean has returned even with the 5mm trim packer.

would adding a 1/4" spacer or making a custom larger trim packer be a potential fix?

I have 886x springs and it doesn't look like it's been done.

I moved my spare to the passenger side in the bed, so ~80lb shift,

    front right is ~23 1/8
    front left is ~ 22 7/8 - 23
both rears were ~ balls on 25

also, going into driveways and such, my driver side rubs the plastic where the mud flaps used to be, passenger side does not.

so i'm looking for probably 1/4" correction to account for my weight while driving.
