A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.

No doubt you'll get it done in good time, but don't be afraid to take your time as well. One false move and you can bugger the ABS wires in the front, stuff like that. The extended rear brake lines are a PITA up on the frame rail. Also, when it's done and back on the ground you'll easily spend 30-45 minutes admiring the new stance with a cold beer in hand and taking pics for TW :D

As was said, probably about 8 hours. I did everything you are doing (for the most part) in about 8 hours and it was my first time tackling a job that big. Hardest part for me was getting the UCA bolts out and back in. That's a bit tricky. The rest was pretty easy, just a little time consuming.

What ubolt flips kit and bump stops did you go with? And do you need new rear brake lines for a 3"? Curious because I'm ordering my lift Friday.

If you're going for 3" and will be wheeling it, its a good idea to get extended brake lines.

    yes to the brake lines.

I ordered the wheelers front bumpstop and attached it to the all-pro ubolt flip. I am not sure if that is enough for the OME shocks in back maybe screw a hockey puck to the underside of the frame as well? I saw someone do that.

All-pro sells a bumpstop for the ubolt flip but it runs around $200

I am in the same boat. I will be doing the following:
    UCA
New spring seat for my front shocks.
U bolt flip kit w/ timbren bumps
    Dakar leaf pack

Extended break lines (probably saved for a different day) the Baja comes with the rear break lines slightly extended.

I will probably have some help
    So that's good.

Props to you if you can get this done in 3 hours. I did rear leafs, shocks, break lines, 885s, and new UCAs last week. I had a buddy help with a couple things but mostly tackled the job solo, it took about 10 hours all said and done. The worst part was the break lines, those took about 2 hours by the time we got the old ones out, new ones in, and the breaks bled. Getting the new leafs in can be a headache too.

So from what I read so far the OME nitrocharger shocks limit the articulation of the Dakars and its better to go with Bilstein 5100/5160's for rear shocks? Since its nitrogen I assume the OME shocks are stiffer then the 5100's correct me if iim wrong

First heard for me. Pretty sure it's been stated in this thread already, many times, that the nitrochargers are longer than the standard 5100s and the 5160s. The exented 5100s are too long and you end up needing bigger bump stops which limit travel. I fail to see the benefit to Bilsteins over the OME shocks that are built to go with the Dakars.

My 5160's are 27" tip to tip. Mine came with my truck though.

The shorter Dakar leaf pack on my 97 reg cab has about 1" more droop than the ome nitrochargers allow. After 5 or so hard wheeling trips, the shocks are toast. I ordered 5125s from downsouth motorsports to replace them.

    no offence but...

    http://www.kyb.com/parts/measure.php

They look to be about 25" extended. Still a 1"+ short for full droop of Dakars

No offense taken I didn't say extended length I said "tip to tip" because I wasn't sure where to actually measure for proper extended length.

What is the full droop of Dakars?

Edit: From what I found the "Tacoma" 5160s only have a 23" extended length according to bilstein. However there appear to be quite a few versions of these on the internet. Where did you order the ones you had come from?

    This is from bilsteins website.

The Bilstien 5160s measure 23.8” extended length per Bilstien, they list the specs on their website. The ones you have in the pic look longer and maybe because they are built this way specifically for Toyota and the Baja package.

The OME rear shocks (60091) measure 24" extended length and collapse is about the same as the 5160s, I've measured them before and took the plastic boot off to get an accurate measurement.

Compression of the OME shocks also feels softer over the Bilstiens, more so over the extended ones (RCD 5100s) which are actually quite firm.

5125s have generic valving and are likely stiffer shocks.
If your OME shocks were toast after 5 trips perhaps there was a defect with the shocks, ARB (OME) makes pretty darn good product that holds up to abuse.

If doing really hard wheeling perhaps you would be better off with a rebuildable shock. In my experience Bilstiens are not any better over the OME shocks in terms of taking punishment. Personally I was say the OME shocks would hold up better and I know the shafts on them is also quite a bit bigger.

So I literally just went and lifted my truck up with our forklift as high as I could before I lifted the back tire and measured the shock.

From the center bolt on the bottom to the center of the rubber bushing on top was at 25.XX". I am not totally sure the shock is the limiting factor or if my stock leaf springs are. Either way I believe they are long enough. I will do the same test once my new setup is installed in a couple weeks.

I didn't take a picture, but here is one from the other day doing the same thing. lol
