The OME shocks are the limiting factor for down travel, in other words the packs will only droop out as much as the shocks will allow. Now according to ARB longer brake lines are not needed because the shocks were speced out to avoid needing them (can't remember which comp called and asked, but this was their response).

So here’s how I see it... if ARB (OME) says this is the case and tested considering the brake lines, I'm pretty sure longer lines are not needed providing you use their shocks. Now if something happens and you pull the lines out ARB would then be liable.

Basically call ARB and confirm they are not needed and if they say no I’m pretty sure you are good to go and you can save yourself some money. The last thing a comp like ARB would want to do is design a kit that could potentially affect the safety of the vehicle.

The concept of if you wheel hard you need them makes no sense to me, you either need them or not. HS says no so confirm from ARB and be done.
Oh and don’t believe everything you hear on forums

    Was this directed at me?

Edit: Either way it makes sense to me. The situations you would have to put your truck in to reach the full articulation or "wheel hard" eliminates the liability from ARB. Do you "need" them. No.

When your vehicle reaches it's full droop your brake lines will be very close to the limit. Hypothetically, if your shocks failed and your axel was able to droop further than the shocks limit. Your brake lines could be yanked out and you would be left with only your emergency brake. Chances are when your truck is at full articulation it is a horrible time to lose your brakes.

Im planning on ordering a OME lift kit soon, going with 885 and the complete dakars in the rear. My question is will i need the top plate spacer to get the leveled look?

    I have a 06 double cab 4x4

I had the same question....read through the last couple pages. I just ended up going with a 1/4 top plate spacer (not the 1/2 for a full 3") as that is what seemed to be logical for me to get leveled. Anyone else can correct me if I a wrong. I ordered mine last week.

interesting. I have googled around and search the forums for a picture of this "cheaper option" If anyone has a picture or knows of where one is I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Okay so I don't know where the picture of the one with the washers is, but I ran outside and got some pictures from my truck. This spacer came with the Baja package because toyota deemed it "necessary" with amount of additional travel my shocks have. Seeing as the OME setup has more lift and the same length shocks I have. I think it is a good idea at the very least to do the same.

You could use just about anything in between the Axle and the bracket. Like I said I have seen people use a bunch of washers, because it was easy to get stainless and not deal with rust.

Here is what came on my truck.

I am putting on my Dakars tonight and going to keep the stock brake lines. I am also putting on Nitrocharger Sport shocks with the rear that come with the OME. I will try to take some pics when its done. Fronts have billies.

    Hi all,

What are your thoughts about running top plate spacers (1/4" or 1/2") in conjunction with OME coils? I my case, I have 887s up front and a Wheeler's HD 1.5" AAL in the rear. I've had them on for about three weeks but my rake resembles stock. Would like to level it out since I don't think my AALs will settle much, if at all.

Lot of people do it. I have 1/4" myself but I know folks have 1/2" as well. If you want 1/2" you'll need longer studs, hopefully you chose that option when you had the shocks assembled or else you'll have to have them taken apart and put back together again. 1/4" will fit on stock length studs.

Thanks Brad. I'm thinking of just going with the 1/4" to be safe. Plus I don't want to risk harming my CV angles.

I looked at this for a bit trying to figure out the difference. So basically it is just that spacer raising it up a bit. Interesting......

Yeah, I have 885s which are a little shorter than the 887s (I believe). I'm surprised you have rake at all with just an AAL and 887s. I have some rake but I went with Dakars in the rear which gave me about 2.5" of lift.

    Hi all,

I installed the OME lift last friday. I got the 884x springs w nitrocharger sport shocks all around and dakars minus top overload on a dcsb prerunner.

Center hub to fender measurements are as follows:
Front Driver: 23.125" Front Passenger: 23.25"
Rear Driver: 24.125" Rear Passenger: 24.75"

So far the ride seems to be a bit too rough for my taste. The truck feels too bouncy and stiff with an unloaded bed. The truck felt great with a loaded bed when I was carrying a rear axle and all the other stuff that came out of the truck.

I was wondering if maybe I should put the top overloads back in and remove the 3rd leaf to reduce the spring rate? Do you think I will reduce the rake on the truck as it sits right now?

No doubt! Way better to just swap brake lines plus the upgrade to stainless is supposed to firm up braking a little. I just wanted to throw that option out there incase someone lifts, before they have a chance to swap brake lines.
