True. I'm already to far in to cheap out now anyway. Are they all the same or are there any brands that stand out?

    Gentlemen
Been reading this post for a while. If you don't mind can you help me choose a leaf spring for my setup. I am trying to determine if would be best rouse dakars or all pro leafs
    Note:
    1. I am a 4wd access cab 5 speed 4 cyl
    2. I have about 120-150 lbs of skids and sliders
    3. I have Ome 885 springs and n182 and 9000 shocks already
    4. Only using trim packer no spacer
    5. I would rather sit level
    6. Only real weight is camping equip at 300 lb once a mo.
    7. Going with 255/85/16's

Also no matter which spring should I remove the third leaf to help on comfort and/ or flex and be level?

    Thanks for your input!

    Sean

Only 300lbs once a month ? You would be fine with the AP standards

You would have a pretty stiff ride with them unloaded most of the time

Stuff and things that make it better.
OME uses the stock suspension torque specs.

    Front shocks/struts lower bolts 101 ft*lbf
    Front shocks/struts upper 3 nuts 47 ft*lbf
(If your re-using your stock top plate: top center nut 22ft*lbf)
Upper ball joint 80 ft*lbf (align up to 60 degrees further for cotter pin)
Upper control arm bolt 87 ft*lbf
Rear shock lower bolt 53 ft*lbf
Leaf spring front hanger pin bolt 116 ft*lbf
Shackle pin mounting bolts (top and bottom) 67 ft*lbf
    OME U bolts 93 ft*lbf
    Stock U bolts 90 ft*lbf

So a group of us on the East Coast are planning a trip to Moab next year. (You may have seen the thread). Hopefully I can make it but I was just wondering if anyone has ran their OME setup there. I usually only see mid or long travel setups in pics.

well I am not going to worry about it then and rock my OME. I can put money towards other items needed to get prepared like a locker, bumper, skids etc.

I am looking for some advice on which version of the OME suspension to put on a 2014 Double Cab Long Bed. I pull a 14 ft construction trailer +/- 3500#. I also take the truck camping with a Phoenix slide in camper +/- 900 #. Previously, on my 2006 I used ride right air bags to level the load. The only problem with this set up was that I totally destroyed the stock leafs under the bags. The go round I want to use the OME suspension first and the seen if I need the air bags to level out the load. My question is do I need the heavy duty set up or the medium. The OME website only addresses needing the heavy duty when you add a winch and heavy front bumper, which I will not do.

The heavy duty and medium are only talking about the fronts anyway, so like OZ said.....go with medium. The rear leafs are the same no matter the configuration. The Dakars should be able to handle the 900 pounds quite easily.

For a 1st Gen it is absolutely worth it. The load capacity of the standard Dakars is the same as the stock leaves and that is just not enough for a truck that is consistently carrying extra weight with things like a heavy rear bumper, tire carrier, extra fuel, extra water, heavy skid plates and then adding camping gear for multiple days. Before I added the extra leaf to mine I was constantly hitting the bumpstops when the truck was loaded.

It may be slightly different for the 2nd Gens but I think the extra leaf is still a worthwhile mod. It is not going to hurt. Ride quality is not affected, flex is not affected but load capacity is vastly improved.
