    2 1/2" is the average

How anybody can figure the Dakars are not stiffer than the stock garbage leafs is beyond me

Pull that little bolt on the e-brake cable hangar out. It stops it from coming out.

    AALs or new Dakars?

When I installed the Dakars by myself, I put the front in and loosely bolted it. Then I summoned the power of Grayskull and He-Manned the rear shackle into place while shoving the bolt through the hole. After that I jimmied the centering pin into place and on put the U-bolts in.

I'm putting new dakars in but right now I have a bigger problem getting the old ones out. All the bolts are removed but the rear shot up when I put the jack on it. Now it's stuck.

I believe I shoved the front toward the rear and twisted it out when that happened to me. There's a bolt head up there it binds up on pretty tight. You can also put your stock jack between the spring and the frame somewhere to push it back down so you can swing the whole set over sideways.

Will the 885 coils be good for 130lbs of added weight in the front? I'm adding a U.S. Off Road winch mount and Warn 9.5xp-s winch. Not sure if I should go with 886. I don't mind a stiff(er) ride but since I'm not adding a full on plate bumper I'm not sure if the 886's would be overkill. I'm getting the full OME kit from Wheeler's with Dakars, etc.

Around 3", as long as the truck sits fairly level with the Dakars I'll be happy. Truck is a DCSB if that makes a difference.

    I didn't know there's an 887.

887's are longer than 885's but the same spring rate

Well I would love to. Money and time is always an issue tho.

But.. if I were, I'm lookin for options that yield no more than 1.5" of lift. Was thinking of Deavers, but I've heard they wear out pretty quick. I would love to find a set of factory leaf packs taken off a new truck.. then throw my Icon pack in with the overload still in, and call it a day.

Hello all, new to the site and new to Tacomas. I am coming over from the dark side (i.e., Jeeps).

I think this is the right thread to post my questions. I'm sure the answer is somewhere in this thread but 286 pages would take a while to find. I apologize in advance for not searching hard enough...

I believe that the OME lift will do exactly what I want but I am concerned about the loss of downtravel and/or the increased operating angles of the CV joints. I know on other IFS trucks you can add ride height at the expense of down travel but it appears as though this isn't an issue on Tacomas. If that was the case I would not lift, but knowing OME, I would be very surprised if they would ruin ride quality by limiting down travel. Also given that the factory does something similar, it sounds as though this is a non issue but I want to confirm. I've read on here that the diff drop is not held in high regard and as such wold not be using it.

Is downtravel limited and does the ride quality suffer?

How is the CV life affected by running an OME at 50mm without the diff drop?

How does the OME lift compare to the factory lifts offered on the Baja editions and the TRD Pro in terms of the components that are swapped out?

    Thanks all in advance!
