OME dakar lift, MB TKO's, bfg KO2's, tinted, blacked out everything, cap.
Finally all of my kit has arrived! Unfortunately it may be a month before it's installed. With working on weekends and other reasons I just don't have the time yet. Oh well.. Oh and I since ya'll have informed me about tire sizes with this lift, do any of you know what the largest size that will fit in the spare tire spot under the bed? Can you stuff a 285 in there?

Yes you can fit a 285 but that's the max.

Is there any advantage that the 255s have over the 285s? I'm running 285s but see a few guys on here running 255s. Just curious.

They tuck inside the fenders , less rubbing issues

Looking for some help here, since I think I landed in a bit of a gray area with my lift.

I have a 2013 DCSB with 80-90lb steel bumper, 60lb winch, IFS/Mid/TC steel skids, sliders, and extra lights up front. Around, or slightly under 190-200lbs on the front end I think. I’m only looking for about 2" of lift. It currently has 5100's with 620# Eibach coils set at .85 and LR UCAs, and is sitting at about 21.75. It was originally about 2" of lift and sat at 22.5, then dropped about .75 when I installed the bumper and skids.

Seemed right for the 90000/886x's so I ordered. But that set put the front way higher than I expected and had zero sag- apparently not nearly enough weight up front for those. I'd guess it was sitting around 24". They were super stiff and I had a very noticeable vibration- seemed to be the front diff bearing that has happened to others. They only stayed on for one long trip to town. I was in such a hurry to leave for a big Baja trip that I didn't take an accurate measurement and put the 5100s back on. I'm not interested in putting them on to let them settle, at the risk of blowing up my diff. The 5100's sit a little low but decent- its just a bit too heavy up front for them. I was glad I had the skid plates on for that Mexico trip.

Trying 885's on the 90000's is tempting. 885's with a lower spring rate, more than the rated +51kg load, but taller than the Eibachs. I just don't know what I'd get with them on the 5100's or on the 90000's compared to the Eibachs.

Or, I stop guessing and go all in with Icon 2.5's and lift to my liking. 650# vs 700# would be the only question there I think, aside from $,$$$.

I have a few options sitting on the living room floor- just not sure which combo will get that 2" lift and no nose dive. Thoughts please?

Less rolling mass (better for braking and acceleration), less overall weight, less wind drag (smaller profile), less drag in standing water, they don't grab ruts in the freeway as bad. In more shallow sand, mud, snow etc that will cut down to harder surfaces better (if there is any). There is more weight per square inch on the road which seems to lend to better grip in most situations. And of course they seem to have less rubbing issues on the tacoma. There is more space between the tire and rear springs/shocks to allow tire chains. The spare tucks under the truck a little better.

This is my first set of tall skinny tires, but a lot of friends use them. They work surprisingly well off road. I've had 35x12.50s on my last several rigs, and 33x12.50s on my other rigs before. But Ive been on trails with my aired down 12.50s sliding around on top of rocks where my buddies were putting me to shame on 235s and 255s. I was surprised.

Downsides are they are less common if you destroy one, and the taller aspect ratio (talk sidewalk with narrow tread) could be a little less stable and deflect more in hard cornering. But the st maxx has a very sturdy carcass and it doesn't seem bad. The skinnier tire wouldn't do as well in flotation type uses (soft sand, deep soft snow/mud) as a wider tire. But when airing down, your biggest gain in tread contact is actually in length. So they still work very well, just not as well in comparison to a wider tire.

Some people think they look silly maybe? I don't care. I don't care to have the tires stuck outside the fenders to try to look cool and deal with tires rubbing and throwing mud and shit all over the place.

Thanks for the info. I might try a set next time. It does suck having your truck get filthy every time the road gets wet.

How much weight do you have up front? And 650 or 700# coils? I'm wondering how much lift they give with zero preload. Any experience with that?

Can you run 90021s in the front with 886s coils? And is it okay to run a little extra weight in the front with the 90021s? Like an aluminum front bumper and winch, without sacrificing a lot of height loss.

    Hi all,

Getting ready for my second OME set-up. Back in 2008, I had the old N140s with 886 (to accommodate bumper winch, etc.). With that set-up, I had an incredibly harsh ride.

Has OME solved this "top-out" problem with the 90000 and/or 90021? My conclusion was the n140s was valved too lightly to handle the (886) spring rate.

Anyone else here replace their N140s's with the newer 90000/90021?

    Any insight is appreciated.

    Cheers.

I would go with the Icons with 700# coils up front if you have 150lbs + up front. That way you can adjust them to the height you want & you won't have a bunch of preload on them.

I think the 886 coils are a little much for running little weight in the front. They are designed for 200+ pounds of extra weight in the front. You could go with 887 coils if you want a lot of extra ridea height

The + and - is a tolerance thing and really for the manufacturer. 0 is at the spec, + is just over (more lift), and - is just under (less lift). These markings are not really meant for the consumers but ARB revealed what they mean so we might as well use them to our advantage to help correct the lean.
