Whew! Just installed the 885's on the 5100's. Took about an hour and a half for both sides. This thread had me scared I was gonna need UCA's but now that it's all on, it seems fine. I'll post pics later. On way to Austin.

Technically I don't think you'll know that for sure until you get an alignment. It might feel fine but you could be eating rubber up.

I read through dozens of pages on this thread before giving up because there is so much in here (mostly OTPHJ type talk, sadly)...

I'm about to install a full OME kit with Dakars & AAL.

Where's the thread about the sqeakey leafs?
What other prep things should I take care of before installing to my truck?

Full Dakars plus AAL? That's going to be one very firm rear end.

Possibly, but I have a permanent commercial shell (~150lbs) and a ~100lb Bedslide. Plus tools and extra fluids. When I put the motorcycle on the hitch, it'll be much better.

The truck isn't a daily driver - I pretty much only use it for road trips - so I don't think it will be as firm as one would worry.

You also have a 2nd Gen. I don't know the differences between weight distribution of the 2nd gen DCLB vs 1st gen DCSB and the load designed for each Dakar pack. At first, I may leave the AAL out to see how it is. I added an AAL to my stock leaf packs in under 2 hours by myself so it isn't that big of a job to add them in later to the Dakar pack.

In reality, with my intended usage of part-time motorcycle on a hitch rack, I'm probably better off with airbags rather than an AAL.

Just don't cut the extra length off the centre pins

No that's not dirt, paint peeling and surface rust.
Just curious how your guys stuff is holding up. rear shocks seem to be holding up better. As you can see in the pic I don't neglect the truck during the winter months my truck has no surface rust what so ever even at the welds on the frame, I understand pa is in the rust belt, iv lived in the northeast my entire life. i oil the truck twice a year.

PA road salt is the worst I've seen. Every car I've seen from PA looks 10x it's age. And that's compared to the salt I'm used to in OH
