I ran 887s with a 3/8 spacer on my old 2nd gen and the ride was perfect with 2.75 inches of lift. Might as well have gone with the 888s in hindsight. But that was with an ARB bumper...

In terms of driveline vibration, are the double cab long bed orientations less likely to experience post lift vibrations or is it truly a random occurrence with no particular correlation.

I just got done installing the OME HD kit on my DCLB. No vibes to report of after 300 miles. I did install the carrier bearing drop kit but I did that after the test drive just as a precautionary measure. Also had my buddy help me install the ECGS bushing as well.

Looking to add the D29XL to my Dakar packs to help with towing my camper. What am I looking at for additional height?

About a 1/2” give or take. I’ve been pondering the same move but for hauling wood.

Satisfied. Took much longer than I thought to complete. Apparently UCAs weren't needed but ran them for good measure.

None yet, that's why I'm here now
    • 2017 Tacom DCSB
    • If I was to do this lift and add relentless front and rear bumpers along with sliders after install , how much would the weight effect the originally designed height?

    • 888 coils and Dakar LD leaf springs, 1/4" top place spacers and trim packer for drivers side lean. Upper Control Arms
    • Thank you for any information.

In the front end the 1/4” spacer would take take care of the extra weight, call it 1/2” sag. I would not even install the spacers right away. Throw them on in a couple of years if you start to sag. I would however install extended strut plate studs right away. That way you have the option to add a spacer at a later point without having to dissemble your strut assembly.

I just got a full OME kit and 255s installed (or so I thought), and I have think I have an issue. Just to clarify, I ordered a the 885s w/ no spacers other than trim packer on one side, nitro chargers all around, and the standard dakar pack. When I picked it up, it had a serious rake, but I figured it would have some rake and maybe the leaf pack just needs to settle. Well, the more I looked at it, the more I thought something was wrong. So, I looked at the receipt (which includes parts and labor), and there is no charge for coil springs with the 885 part number. So, I crawled under and the coil springs dont appear to be shiny like the other black parts on the nitro chargers. In fact, they look a bit corroded. Although I don't have pre-lift measurements, I measured hub to fender up front (roughly 20.5"), which compares to many of the pre-lift measurements on the OME gallery. One more embarrassing fact, I can't for the life of me remember whether the box of old parts I threw out after install included struts only or struts with coils. Below is picture of the truck. Note, the picture shows the truck on a slight incline, so the rake doesn't look as bad as it is.

I'm fairly sure I have stock coil springs installed on the OME struts, and I'm gonna take a closer look in the morning when it is light outside to confirm that. In the meantime, I am hoping you all can answer a couple questions:

1). Is there any identifying mark on the OME coils? I thought I remember seeing the model number (e.g., 2885X) printed on them in white in pics on this site. I can't see it on the coils on the truck (potentially because they are stock). Any ideas on how I might definitively identify the OME coils or the stock coils?

2). Assuming the shop neither ordered or installed the OME coils and that I have stock coils on now , I'm going to need to raise a stink and order some. If I knew i could get two inches or just under from where they are now (i.e., 884s), that's probably what I would do, as opposed to 885s. Am I correct to think that the stock coils on the OME nitrochargers would not have lifted the truck at all? In other words, is there some incremental amount of lift achieved from the nitro chargers, or will my increases with swapping in the OME coils be the same is if I was starting from stock/scratch.

    Thanks!

UPDATE: I crawled under and spoke with the shop and confirmed that they installed the stock coils. Now, I need to decide which OME coil I want. Originally I was sold on the 885. However, looking at difference between front and rear, I'm not sure I need that much. Just to clarify, I'd like my rear to be a bit higher than the front.

I'm going to take more measurements tonight and make a decision, but I'd like to get some opinions from you OME experts: based on the photos above, do you think installing 885s would still maintain a slight rake? If you think it would be level, I might be inclined to go with 884s. Note, I think my rear sits a little lower than most (about 23 3/4" hub to fender) because I have a long bed, a camper shell, a deck with frame and storage, camping gear, and fairly heavy fly rod rack at all times.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Is anyone running the 888 springs with 1/4" spacers? I have the 887 on my DCSB and about to install a 75lb bumper and winch as well as skid and want to raise it about 1/2 from current height.

the 888 coils are 3/16 taller than the 887, so if you add a 1/4 spacer your additional lift height before adding bumper should be about just below one inch in total before adding the extra weight which will probably sag it back down 1/2. You could also try the 886 coils with no spacer

Im OK to use a 1/4" spacer just trying to determine if I should go 886 or 888 now, want to try and get to a 2.5 lift with an additional 150lbs between the new bumper and stuff

You’re gonna want the 885’s to accomplish your goal. I have the same set up and it produces a slight rake.
