They all work together depending on what you have on the truck. heavy springs if you are armor+winch etc. lighter springs stock...it's different for everyone. I'd recommend the bp51s that will allow some tuning.

How is the ride with HD dakars in the back and a mostly empty bed? Looking at some setups and 90% of the time, im pretty much empty (edc tools, some recovery gear etc). Then the honey do list comes out and im almost bottomed out with mulch, landscaping rocks, 2x4, etc. Throw in weekend fishing trips and family vacations and my weight needs are all over. I know the HD will be overkill the majority of the time, just wondering if its a jarring ride or perfectly fine, but stiff when its empty.

    Looking at either:
    885s with the 90021
    or 6112s
Havent done any research on these in about 7 months so just need to refresh my memory/look at the latest reviews.

Not really looking for height as much as im looking for not bottoming out in the back and a better ride on moderate trails (the kind that the locals have no issue going on solo, but your out of town buddy thinks your nuts)

timbrin bump stops. they are good for occasional overload, aren't expensive and are well rated/reviewed. I had them and now run hydrobumps (windfall, bank error in my favor=truck parts!) from icon. I have the aal for the dakars waiting inthe garage but so far I'm happy with the hydrobumps and as-needed tuning for the bp51s

Don't want to create a new thread... I installed OME nitrochargers in 2016 and have since put on around 75k miles. I'm going on a wheeling trip in a month, should I be concerned about blowing a shock and being left stranded? (Or can you limp back if a shock goes out..?) Should I order some fresh ones quick and have them installed before the trip?

2016? 75k miles in 3yrs? damn. if you can afford the peace of mind probably wise to replace and take the old ones as spares?

They're the same spring so same spring rate.
Shocks aren't critical. People drive around on blown ones all the time. You'll be able to limp back home.

Ah 25k a year isn’t too crazy! A lot for some but not much to others I suppose. I might hold off and do shocks, leafs, and coils all at once in the spring.

887s and medium Dakars. Get the soft-ride shocks up front. I had a similar OME setup on my ‘16 4Runner Trail as well. Great products.

How long have you been running this setup? May I ask your hub to fender measurement up front?

I'm only getting 22" up front hub to fender with the 887's. I have an aluminum skid and sliders but I see you have these too. Kind of funny since they rode really high when brand new.

I'm wondering if I have bad 887s (my medium Dakar are being warrantied) or if the skid and sliders are too much. The suspension was installed last November. I'm not sure if I swap to 888s, top plate spacers or try a new coilovers to get back up to 23.5"-ish

I'm still sifting through these pages so maybe this was already explained. But what determines going with a Medium or Heavy Dakar pack? I assume it depends how much weight you constantly ride with but is the lift height the same? I'm only running a softtopper and bed rack so nothing heavy, except for a couple hundred lbs of dogs and camping gear a few times a year.

Heavy is designed for 660lbs constant load. I believe it has 15mm more lift than medium

I have a 06 TRD Sport Prerunner (2wd) I've owned since new. No wheeling but I do lots of hunting in varied terrain. Mostly dirt trails, corn fields, occasional rocky areas but nothing extreme. I have the leaf spring tsb and stock Bilsteins.

I have a topper (175 lbs) and am thinking about a Decked system (220 lbs). I just added air bags to help with the sag of the topper. I had a couple recent hunting trips where the entire truck was loaded down and it rode low.

Any recommendations for a spring/shock setup for a 2wd, 80% road vs 20% trail, road ride preferred, carrying the weight of the topper and full cargo.

Ok, I've figured out a plan. I'm thinking the OME 883 (lighter valving/softer ride) with NitroCharger front and rear shocks. I'm not wanting much lift in the front, if at all. Hopefully whatever lift I achieve I can make the truck level with the rear air bags and not adversely affect the ride.

I posted a separate thread about this, but figured this might also be a good place to ask. Did anyone have issues with the rear top bushings bulging out of only one side of the washers? When I went to tighten the top nut onto the bushings and washers, the bushing started to pop out of only one side. It would be like having two circles with equal diameters having slightly offset center points.

Thinking about loosening the components and trying to re-seat it. It is happening on both top bushings on the rear struts (4 total, 2 per side).

Anyone have experience with their OME shocks or coils going bad? I've had my lift on for 7 or 8 years now (885s+top plate spacer and Nitro 90000's). My drivers side is now an inch lower than the passenger side. I'm measuring from the top of the tire to the lip of the fender, trying to be as consistent as possible in my measurements. I have the trim packer that on the driver side to adjust for the "taco lean". My original measurements after I put the lift on was less than a quarter inch difference between the driver/passenger side. Other than the difference in tire-to-fender measurements, I'm not seeing or feeling any other symptoms that would indicate something has failed or is failing. Thoughts?

Springs and shocks are consumable items. Depending on your mileage, it might be time for a refresh.

OME 90021 with 885s and top plate spacer, 2" AAL, OME rear shocks, Camburg Uniball UCAs, OME CB Drop, 285/75/16 BFG AT's on Level 8 Guardian wheels
Literally (OK, 3 days ago) just replaced my OME 90000s + 885s + 1/2" top plate spacer + Light Racing UCAs after 6-7 years and ~100k miles. I replaced with OME 90021s (softer valving than 90000s), 885s, and 1/4" top plate + Camburg Uniball UCAs. The front wasn't necessarily sagging and still remained level, but I needed upper and lower ball joints replaced so I figured I'd "freshen up" the coilovers as well given their age. So far the 90021s are noticeably different: smoother than 90000s yet still firm. Granted it's only been a few days of butt-in-seat time, I prefer the 90021s. I'm very pleased with the swap.

Given the age/mileage of your setup (and, as mentioned above, they are consumable items), it might be time to replace if you can't pinpoint any other issues.
