As far as Bushings for the EL085R’s go, would you go with Black Wheelers Bushings or the yellow Old Man EMU Bushings?

Dealer says between 0"-3", OME marketing materials say 0"-2.5", OME fitment guide says 0"-2".

Being a pessimist, I'd err on the side of caution and assume the lowest values from the fitment guide are correct.

I bought the OME 2" kit and got 2.5" front and rear after settling. My thought is you should see 2-2.5"

In my humble opinion 2" is about the sweet spot for IFS trucks, you don't want to be changing out CV or CV boots every couple of years. I got about 2.5" (2nd gen) from the heavy coils and dakars with a steel bumper, winch, front skid plate and sliders. Ditched the winch and swapped in softer coils and it went down to 2", this past weekend I got rid of the steel bumper and replaced the shocks. Sitting higher than I would like in the front right now but I hope it will settle to around 2" again.

For an access cab with the 4.0 (2nd gen) will the 887’s with the OME nitro charger shocks give me three inches up front? Three inches is what I’m looking for. I already have the SPC UCA’s. I’m not and don’t plan on ever adding extra weight to the front end.

I’ve looked and looked but everyone either uses 5100’s or has a double cab or a third gen or all three.

    Hi guys,
Im about to order an OME kit for my daily 3rd gen. It has a hidden steel bumper, winch, sliders, bed rack and a Front Runner roof rack.
Therefore, I’m getting 886s with medium leafs.

The big questions is: Can I pair 886s with the 90021 soft struts for a softer ride? Has anyone done this?

Seems like the majority of folks are going with 885s upfront even if they have a steel bumper + winch hey? I have the arb bumper upfront and will be getting a XD9000 warn for a bitchin deal and folks are saying the 886s run still. What would you recommend best for running some gravel wash board roads?

^^^^ I should also add I'm not running any additional armor (maybe sliders in the next year as well as a dual battery set up, if not a bigger battery) and it is my daily driver. I'm after 2inches of lift as well. Here's what I could find!

    Option 1: https://shop.capit.com/collections/...an-emu-2-lift-kit-for-2005-2015-toyota-tacoma (HD kit)
    Comes with...
    • Coil Springs (Front) (2886 x 1 pair)
    • Leaf Springs (EL111R x 2)
    • Nitrocharger Sport Strut (90000 x 2)
    • Nitrocharger Sport Shock (Rear) (60091 x 2)
    • U-Bolts (OMEU53B x 4)
    • Driveline Spacer Kit (FK29 x 1)
    • Old Man Emu Leaf Spring Bushings (OMESB108 x 2)
    Option 2: https://www.4wheelparts.ca/p/arb-old-man-emu-2-inch-lift-kit-ometac05lksb/_/R-BHWQ-OMETAC05LKSB (medium load)

The parts are hard to find for this bad boy but it's pretty much identical as the one above aside from the drive line spacer which according to the one and only comment in the review section is much needed. Big surprise there! as for the leafs I'm at a loss. I don't plan on having massively heavy loads but I do have a shell on the back, I wouldn't mind putting a roof rack on and every now and again in the summer I haul my motorbike off a hitch carrier. As of right now I don't have any issues accept I notice that when I'm on the highway going into a bend with a bridge the truck does a decent "hop" when crossing over the metal gap. I'm not sure of softer or stiffer suspension will make it better or worse

I used to have a coastal offroad version of yours with a winch and 885s did just fine on my second gen, I would go with 887s for your third, 886s will be way to stiff since you don't have much weight even with the 90021 shocks.

    Hello All,

I purchased my OME kit a while back when I knew nothing of suspension. I figured I'd be building up my truck and adding a lot of weight to it, with this in mind I purchased the Dakar HD leaf pack and a set of 9000 struts with 886 coils while the truck was essentially stock. Needless to say the ride was super stiff and I was topping-out out my front struts on every bump. I have since added some weight to the truck, which has improved ride performance a bit, but it's still incredibly stiff and I still top-out the struts on most larger bumps.

My question is, should I stay with the 886 coils? I currently have an ARB front bumper and a camper shell. I'd like to be around 2" of lift, I am currently at 2.75" (in the front that is). I plan on getting sliders and a steel front and transmission skid within the next few months, would these additions correct the stiffness in my ride? I don't plan on getting a winch for a while as I haven't needed one thus far.

I just want to improve my ride quality and move that shock down in the stroke so I'm not topping-out on every big rock on the trail. Should I keep the 886s on and just add the sliders and skids and hope the added weight helps? Or should I just get new coils, I was thinking the 885 or 884 coils, how would these perform with all that weight?

Any advice on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Got some Nitrochargers 90004 and the lower bushings are going out. Anyone know the part number for a replacement?

EDIT: Heard back from ARB. It's ARB 110-110-122. SM673 is for the upper bushing. Now just need to fine them cheaper than $35

That's the price for a set of bushings, isn't it? Can't be for one bushing, unless it's made from genuine Australian Abo.

The bushings on my Land Cruiser OME's turned to dust a couple weeks ago (after 20 years) and I need to replace bushings in all four shocks.

After 20 years....why wouldn’t you just replace the shocks? They come with new bushings pre-installed ;)
