Ooooh I didn't realize you have the 4cyl. The 882's might put you pretty nose high then. I'm not really sure, I don't know that much about applications with the 4cyl
your coils will not magically get stronger. The shock is pushing it up.

20% tint on all windows, Deckplate mod, satoshi-ish grille, blacked out and/or body matched emblems, rattle canned rims, red l.e.d. interior lights, bilstein 5100's and OME 881 coils , deaver 8 leaf pack, 1.5" lift shackle, alpine sound system, 55w HID lightforce 140 and 170 fogs
The shock doesn't hold or push anything up. Take out the coil and see what happens when the weight of the vehicle is on just the shock.

The shock doesn't hold everything, duh. But then explain how the shock does no extra work by pushing up the coil to a taller height than it sits naturally

The shock holds up nothing. not even a little bit. The only thing it does is prevents the front of the truck from bouncing over and over every time you hit a bump.

Plenty of vehicles have the shock and the coil separate in the front. And guess what, if you raise the lower coil perch, it lifts the vehicle. The same thing applies when you raise the lower spring perch on our trucks. It just so happens that the perch is sitting around the shock. The shock has nothing to do with the increase in height.

If you're going to tell people what they should/shouldn't do with their suspension you should at least have an idea of how it works.

I'm not telling anybody what to do. I'm just sharing my personal opinion as well as the information I have learned from other people on this forum. No need to talk down to me like I'm a moron.

Sure, share your opinion all you want, but don't get offended when someone tells you the reasoning is completely wrong. I'm not sure why you would want want to go around spreading false information.

If you have an actual reason beyond "its what everyone else says" on why you shouldn't preload OME coils I'm all ears.

The post of mine posing the question, the one you quoted, stated it was 881s with a 2.7l. For a person to be throwing around advice on a suspension thread and not understand the basic concept of the coil/strut relationship, is a moron.

I'm going with the same set up front and rear eventually. Can you put an aal in the dakars if you carry extra weight a lot of the time?

Yes the Dakar has a aal made specially for them. Mine sits a little higher in the rear already and handles weight great so far. Levels out when I loaded it with a dirt bike and a washing machine

Y'all some fiesty people in here. Excuse me for trying to help someone. If my reasons may not be right, I still wouldn't want to put an OME coil on any setting other than zero on the 5100. That's what I have now and what I've been told by others. That is a good enough reason for me. I never said anything would be damaged by doing it. I'm no suspension expert. Hell, very few people on here are. We all just help each other and give advice based off personal and learned experiences. Let me know when I can help with anything in the future. I'm more than willing to help anybody to the best of my ability.

It's all good dude :) Just a Friday night :duel:
I didn't mean to start an argument over it, both sides are right in the sense that too much pre-load is bad on any spring, but just an extra bit shouldn't hurt anything when trying to compensate for extra load as opposed to simply trying to lift it to the moon. If the next setting doesn't work out I'd definitely look at other options.

5th of August. I'm having my favorite mechanic buddy do them as he gave me a screaming deal. Purchased and installed for less than ECG could ship them to me. And I get a warranty.:)

Yep ome sells an aal for their leaf pack. If you plan to carry weight consistently you'll def appreciate it.

Lets not forget that coil springs are a wear item. They begin loosing their lifting ability as soon as you start using them.

Adding pre-load by bumping up to the middle position on the shock perch with new coils is not the same thing as doing it with used coils.
