From personal experience with my truck, and not just stats on paper:

881s, Dakars, stock bumper - perfect setup w/perfect rake

881s, Dakars, ARB - "need to re-adjust headlights" rake

882s, Dakars, ARB w/Synthetic - Perfectly level. Debating Add a Leaf.

I wish someone had done something like this before I bought my stuff. But like anything, too much "here say" and not enough personal experience.

Truck is a 2004 Xtra cab 4x4 5spd w/ ARB (no duh) and lots of extras (4500lbs over the scales). Lift over saggy stock height is approx. 2" or so. 265/75/16s

That looks about right!! Thanks for all the input. Do you have the top spacer plate on the 882s?

If you really have 882 you have the tallest EMU spring they offer. 881 is the middle spring 880 is the lowest spring.

I went with 881s before I planned on bumper, winch and bud built, do 883s just support more weight? Some one Said they are all same weight 500lb? And 882 is just the tallest of all.

Correct according to EMU catalog and specs. All are 500lbs 880 is the shortest 882 are the tallest. 883 DO NOT fit first gen

I'm looking at my post. I stand corrected they will fit according to the measurements. My bad,

880, 881, 882, and 883 all fit fine. 881 and 883 are same size lift but the 883 is for extra weight. 882 is the tallest spring (most lift) on a stock front end

Maybe just terminology at fault here.

881 nets about 2" of lift.
adding the top spacer gives the extra inch. It also stresses the hell out of the CV at full droop, but that's another discussion
This is for stock front end. No aftermarket bumper. I've tried it.

881 and 883 are the same physical length, not the same lift.

882 and 883 actually give the same lift, about 3", no top plate spacer.
The difference is the weight capacity and the flex.

882 is longer overall than the other two, has the same rate as the 881 but being longer provides more lift. about 1" more. But it also stays flexy. I can hit bump stop with the 882's, they flex nicely with the rear springs, on my particular setup.

883 is the same length as the 881 but has a thicker coil diameter and higher spring rate. So it is stiffer. It actually rides very nice. Does very well with Double Cabs, plate bumpers, those that want a little heavier suspension, etc. When I ran them, they were actually very comfortable and the ride was great.

I'm sure a few will jump in and claim numbers either way as far as actual lift, but remember everybody has something different going on.
    V6 vs 4 banger
    DC vs Excab
    Tube vs plate
    Steel cable vs synthetic rope
    dual batteries vs single battery
swaybar vs no swaybar. There is no right answer here either, it's preference.
    the list has no end.

Nobody can say what will work for you and give exact numbers or claim right or wrong. None of what I have posted should be taken as gospel. It is my personal experience with those 3 coils and the progression of my build at the same time. Plus the experience shared by others who actually took the time to list exactly what they had done.

So im in the middle of trying to compress a 881 coil to take the top hat off so i can put longer studs in. HOW THE HECK do i compress it?! I have been trying for 30 mins with a compressor i rented and it is compressing the spring but it still had LOTS of pressure it looks like on the top hat....and help please!

How much lift did you end up with? Contemplating switching from eibachs to the 883's with my 5100's. Eibachs are way too stiff still. And probly will remain that way even after my plate bumper I'm waiting on.

Yeah yeah... :smack: oh well. Lol. It's no biggie tho. Really. But I was getting mixed opinions on it. New coils aren't too bad. Just wondering if it'll be worth it.
