You'll probably find that most guys in this thread will say Dakar's are great. Squeaky but great. I love mine

Dakars are great. Whole suspension setup is great.

If you are thinking about the D6XL, it is a bit stiff with no weight. But once I add the rack and RTT, it's back to being awesome over the rough stuff.

Funny, I was just about to ask if they were quieter than the squeaky stock springs. I bought my Tacoma with Downey shackles and tired oem springs so am looking at Dajars with OME shackles to get some heavier duty new springs in without too much rake.
Figure Dakars add 2.5" minus current 1.25" provided by Downey shackles should set me as a 1.25" gain over current stance. I would go OEM but like the military wrap on the OME Dakars as an ounce of safety. We tow and trailer has a tongue weight of 320# when loaded properly with an occasional 300# dirtbike in bed as well.

My dakars are squeaky. I'm sure once they break in they will do great but they are stiff right now. Enough I lowered the air in the tires a bit again...

There are a couple threads here some where on fixing squeaky Dakar's. Some guys run zip ties between the leafs.

255 fit great and only slight rub on frame at full lock. you honestly can't tell they are any smaller. (S/T Maxx here). I have 255/75/17 (true 32", speedo dead on) but pretty sure the 255/85/16 is the same or slightly taller.

my 881's are 18 months old and still stiff as a board. they've settled about 1/4-1/2" at most. maybe it's the all poly bushings but wish these were more progressive for DD :(

Has anyone found nitro sports limiting your rear droop with standard Dakar leaf pack? If so did you go the 5125 route? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they certainly are the limiting factor in my setup. I don't remember exactly how much, but i clearly remember having to jack up on the axle (with the leaf spring connected) to install the shock.

From what I understand, you can't run a 10" shock on the stock mounts without bottoming them out.

Edit: its not like you won't have any droop though. Monster flex? Nah. Good enough for me? For now, yes.

I believe the nitros are a couple inchs short. I just flexed out my dakars not to long ago.
    Driver- 16 col. 25.5 extended
    Pass- 16.5 col. 25 extended
    Bump stop- atleast 4.5"
I'm going with 10" travel kings, 16 col, 26 ext.
    5" bump.

But I also found bilstien 5125 shocks that would work.

The bump is to not bottom out, correct? 5" to the bump plate at the top of the frame correct? and stock shock locations?

Question... in order to run the 10" shocks, you're saying that you are going to have to increase the length of your bumps, to keep the shock from bottoming out, correct?

So, you would be gaining some droop, but losing bump travel. ????

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the longer shock?

Stock locations. At 16" collapsed, bump stop measurement is 4.5", from top of leaf to bottom of the bump on the frame. I forgot to mention, I have the elocker skid and that limited my compression. With out it you could possibly get more compression, but at the same time the leafs had pretty negative arch already.

I'm going with 5" bumps to give me 1/2" leeway. My kings are 16" compressed, so the 5" bump should stop it at~16.5".

    Hopefully that makes sense....

I'm about to purchase the OME kit with 881s and Dakar leaf pack, but was wondering if you guys are running stock UCAs? It seems like half the people have no problem with the stock UCAs and some need to upgrade.
