What setup are you running in the rear? Looks to be supporting that weight very well. You can always use one of the top plate spacers that they offer. Just curious, but what size tires are you running?

Rear leafs are OME Dakar cs019r. They lifted the rear substantially. Tires are 33x10.5 15s. I'm also thinking of running the 882 coils to level it out as well

Really? Good to know. Ya I have thought about taking a leaf out and I may just do that. Friends with the exact same setup sit lower in the rear even when I have a ton of weight in the back.

No all 96s. All same leaf packs but mine I bought used and broken in already but the truck still sits higher. Its really not that bad I just gotta keep weight in the back all the time

Its got a 6 pack and same with my two friends. I think I'm just going to pull a leaf out. Just gotta figure out which one. I rub a bit at full lock in the front but my cv angle is good right now and I don't want to change that if I lift it more

Pretty sure you said eairler on to keep a eye on my boots. The inner on this side is the only one leaking. I think that's all it doing but thanks for the heads up.

Did you do the diff drop kit? Mine looked like that before I put mine on and then I decided to "test out" the suspension by jumping a double speed bump and ripped both my boots :luvya:

Yeah I have the diff drop on. It's just the inner boot on my drivers side which is weird lol

Does anyone know if the holes on Dakars are the same size as stock leaf spring hole with the bushings pressed out?

    HELP!

Putting the 881's on a 1999 and I'm doing all i learned here about the bottle jack pushing the LCA down to line up the lower bolt...

    IMG_4922.jpg

but it isn't lining up very nicely... it would seem the CV boot is getting in the way and putting the bolt at difficult angle to work with...

    IMG_4924.jpg

    IMG_4923.jpg

I can't even figure a decent way to just hammer it home... any thoughts?

So the bolt holes of the lower shock mount aren't exactly in line with the hole on the shock?

If so, have someone twist the shock while you slide the bolt in.

The contraption was from info I found on this very thread, works okay...

I thought about putting the bolt in the other way, definitely seems easier, I was only trying to put the bolt back in the way I found it, and I haven't come up with any reason not to... unless someone else has some reason not to I'll probably go that route, the cv boot is really screwing with me this way.

Right on man, really appreciate the feedback. All my car buddies don't want to come over and help in 104 degree heat, not even for free beer! I need new car buddies...:anonymous:

I have done it by myself, but it's definitely easier with an extra set of hands. I used a long crow bar and wedged the end under a coil, and pushed down on the upper control arm. While I did that had a budy twist on the coilover and slide bolt in.

Got the drivers side done all by me lonesome. (putting the bolt in the other way while rotating the strut around 'till it fit through was all too easy). One buddy available tomorrow. will hopefully finish up with remaining three struts and brake line then take the ol' girl for new shoes and alignment, maybe worry about the diff drop somewhere's in there later.

This has me severely doubting my choice of 882's with the full OME setup that's on its way, would 883's be any better for CV's with no weight added up front? Would a diff drop on the 882's make the CV's last longer and give me more time to decide on a bumper and winch? My head is spinning trying to decide whether to return the 882's and order 883's, or just install the 882's with a diff drop and maybe get a skid plate to add some weight.

I changed my post you quoted. I got the info below from Bilstienlifts.com. Ronny Dahl and Andrew St Pierre White give excellant advice when it comes to setting up suspenion - Build you truck and do the suspension and tires at the same time and do them dead last. That way you'll know exactly what will suit your truck and your needs.
    • OME 880: Stock front weight.1.5 inch lift.
    • OME 881: Stock front weight. 2-2.5 inch lift. Add Top Plate Spacers for full 3 inch
    • OME 883: 200 + lbs additional front weight (heavy bumper and winch) 2.5- 3 inch Lift

That sounds like good advice, guess I'm doing it ass backwards. Couldn't stand the Rugged Fails any more, so bought tires on short notice to take advantage of a sale. Then realized I probably need a lift to ensure no rubbing so I ordered the OME kit. Now I'm scrambling to add weight so I don't ruin my CV's. All the help from people on this forum makes things easier though.

I too was worried about my cv's, I purchased a used Ome setup consisting of 882 springs with front and rear nitrochargers.

To decrease the angle of the cv's I've chosen to wait on the install until my bumper was done.

Now that it's done I'm ordering the rear suspension. So fingers crossed my cv angles won't be to harsh
