    Forgot to ask above...

Stock '04 DCSB TRD (no extra weight up front) + 882's + Nitros == lift??

How much lift have folks been seeing with the 882's on a DC after it settles? 3"? 2.75"? 2.5"? I think Headstrong was stating their customers were seeing 2.75" with the 882s on a DC. Does this agree with what folks here are getting?

Its really all subjective. Someone with a very worn suspension is going to see different numbers than say someone who hardly put anything on their rig and switched out suspension. I think the general consensus is you'll see anywhere from 2-2.5".

I went with the 881s since I don't have any armor but 882's should be just fine.

I think the only option I had was diamond plate or smooth top. I also called mine in. Didn’t order it from the website.

Jared bars, sheet metal inserts, light tab mounts (tube or plate), main bar tube, rounded stinger....there's no explanation on the website.

Jared bars I think are the light hoops. Sheet inserts sound like a hybrid tube plate bumper setup. For the rest I would just call or message them.

I was completely happy with 881s, no bumper, full skids, v6 04 dbl cab for 2 years of hard wheeling. It was a very comfortable ride not stiff or jarring. As soon as I put the 50lbs bumper on i got 882s.

Confused by the part in bold... Stock bumper is 60lb. You put a 50lb bumper on and then went to 882's?

Yeah, I took the crash tube 2ft piece of tin and plastic/chrome bumper off. Then put on a plate bumper by hand maybe 60 max.

Edit: i don't know about yours but my stock one is not 50lbs. I had my 6yr old hold it while un did the last 2 bolts. He is only 44lbs soaking wet.

I recalled a post that stated the stock bumper weighed 60lbs. I though I bookmarked the post, but cannot find it. I have, in searching just now, seen several other posts about the stock bumper weighing 30lbs or 32lbs, consistent with your statement. I stand corrected! :bananadance:

What is the difference between the OME rear Nitrocharger Sport shock p/n OME60062 and a HD rear shock p/n OME60065?

I have only seen the 60062's listed on most vendor's websites (e.g. Wheelers, Headstrong etc), but on the Rocky Road Outfitter's Old Man Emu Tacoma Lift Kit & Accessories web page, they distinguish between the two. But I had to put the Medium Sport Shock in the shopping cart to see it is the OME60062, and likewise, the Heavy Duty Shock in the shopping cart to see that it is the OME60065.

When, if ever, would I want to run the 60065's in the back rather than the 60062's? Does the amount of weight that is in the back of the truck affect the choice of the shock? I thought that was more a function of the springs that one chooses?

    And... while I'm asking questions...

Has anyone priced full OME kits lately? Any idea who has the best pricing?
    I'll be looking at
    1. Headstrong Offroad
    2. Wheeler's Offroad
    3. Toytec
    4. Cruiser Outfitters
    5. Rocky Road Outfitters
Is there anyone else I should consider? Any vendor I've left off the list?

From what I am reading, the 881's might be ok for me in terms of initial lift. BUT, I've read accounts where it has sagged more than people thought. I would expect 1.5-2.5, maybe 2-2.25" of lift from the 881's with my DC, which is probably enough for me. But if I do add bumper, winch, armor, sliders etc... I think I'll be down to around 1.5-1.75" and looking to put 882's or 883's on. It was Box Rocket and other build's that convinced me that the 882's are what I want. Probably around 2.75" initial lift, add stuff... down to 2.25 to 2.5" That's still OK. Pretty much everyone who has had the 882's that has posted has raved about the ride, so for me it's 882s.

I get budget, wallet, bank accounts etc in terms of paying for these enhancements. Or cash flow. Is it possible to do just a little bit, and go incrementally? Maybe... but many (if not all) scenarios will end up having you replace some parts you already bought. So you end up paying for the same thing twice, OR you have to sell your used stuff.

For me it comes down to the back end... how much I have to carry back there. I am EDD with about 500lbs in the back. Can I get away with an AAL? If I could, then four 5100's with the stock shocks might be an adequate beginning. OR, maybe I could do 882's in front with the 5100's set at 0. Then when I work towards full OME, all I have to do is sell the 5100's. If I do that soon enough, then someone on TW may love to get 5100's in great used condition even cheaper than what the new ones cost.

But if the AAL isn't going to cut it, and the price differential between full Dakars + D43XL and the General springs is only $50-100... I'm going Dakars. As soon as I go Dakars... well... I could run 5100's all around, but what is the cost differential to go from all 5100s to all Nitrochargers... $200ish? Even $300?

So, for me... if I have to go full Dakars in the back for my weight... then I may as well just go all in on full OMEs. FWIW.

Fwiw, wheelers recommended the 883 for a DC V6, when i didn’t intend any additional weight up front

That 6112 coilover at front and 5165 is what Calls my attention with the J59 8 pack leafs sell by wheelers for 658 .

Does anyone installed this combo? Thoughts?

Wheeler's has a very good reputation here on TW. But in this instance I give more weight to Box Rocket and what he accomplished with his 1st gen DC in a most epic build thread and some really awesome flex photos. What I have seen is that some people go with 883s, and some go with 882s. As best I can tell, both group's are happy, but the 882 setup is described as giving a softer ride. FWIW.

Stoopid question: where are the Old Man Emu parts in the described setup? Are the 6112's being paired with some OME coils up front? What is the advantage of 6112's over 5100's?

Stoopid question #2: What are 5165's? How are they different (or similar) to 5100s?

Howdy Steven ….allow me to quote your input and explain my stupidity

Stoopid question: where are the Old Man Emu parts in the described setup? Are the 6112's being paired with some OME coils up front? What is the advantage of 6112's over 5100's?

I don't think is a good idea to pair OME coils with Bilstein but your Q may have a valid point....:hattip:

Because BTBowie mentioned that he had the 5165 but let go since he's was not ready to install...that is why I mentioned the Bilstein upgraded choice thinking out of the box OME Option:confused:

I know is stooped Q because hardly anyone will made this combo and then later participate or switch to OME Thread but everything is possible..so let's say …I will re- Q like this

Does anyone installed OME with this ….j59 8 pack ?
Stoopid question #2: What are 5165's? How are they different (or similar) to 5100s?[/QUOTE]

Your Q are good, definitely 5100 all around x4 pieces are almost equal price that x2 only rears 5165....now does anyone tried both and compare Quality ?

My apologies my TW friend my only neuron makes difficult to express myself:argue: on a second language , just lurking the OME experiences but having more in mind the Bilstein option.:pccoffee:
