    Dick head auto correct! No I'm not running 886s on a 1st gen. It should have said " I wanted to put 887s on my Double cab 1st gen, but mis read the for sale add and ended up with 886s. How do you like the 885s?

    Edit: as in I was shooting to purchase 885/887s as well. But screwed up and got 886s.

    All those springs aren't suited to 1st gens bud. You need 880, 881, 882, and at the max 883.

    880 = 0"-1.5 lift on V6
    881 = 2.5" if lift on V6 (500lbs)
    882 = same spring rate as 881 but 20mm taller allowing for more weight but similar ride. V6 only.

    883= same ride height as 881 just stiffer spring (590 lbs). Different approach to added weight. V6 only.

    Yes I know the rates and key word FREE spring length of all the 1st and 2nd gen OME springs. Along with what they are advertised to fit, I currently have 882s on my v6 double cab truck. After I add what I Fab up on the truck. I am going to run a spring with a higher rate and 5mm "887" longer to achieve the setup I'm after.

    Too much but not enough!
    OME 885s are working out for now, cv angles are pretty bad but I have manual hubs so it'll take me a while to rip a boot. 5100 and 885s can be done though.

    I get what you mean and understand, I was explaining my plan so that it wouldn't be misconstrued. Although I don't know what you are saying in the later part.
    No not really with skids and sliders right now on my 882s and 1/4" top plate shim I only have 275mm of coil spring length. Or 39" from ground to fender well, with the variable of tire size. The CVS are at 5* upward slope to the inner shaft, no where near bad.

    The ride is great on them, by all means especially with the back being a little lower. So that the majority of weight isn't on the front.

    I won' be using 9004s though, they don't have enough down travel for that, but just enough right now.

    I'm running the same setup. My CVs are definitely at the most droop I want for piece of mind and long term reliability.

    Are you trying to make a mid travel setup with OME coils and different shocks?

    Not exactly I wouldn't call it mid travel. Just full use and a proper stroke shock that doesn't limit suspension travel. Shock travel should be equal to your other components. More or less a shock that is long enough for the proper amount of down travel and also up travel. Pulling hard measurments on a unused 9004 in hand, with the safe range of travel on the truck. It shows with math I have 1 inch of down travel before the shock bottoms out and gets damage. That should not be the case, especially with one that is designed for lifted applications.

    Back on track, OME Shocks and coils are a good quality product for light off road use. I enjoy the good ride it provides on and off road.

    Installed my set-up today. Decided to leave the Dakar pack full for initial install with the 881’s. Rear is a little high and very stiff. Got too dark And late to do more tinkering, but will take some measurements and cycle the suspension some before deciding whether to take any leafs out of the pack. Initial thoughts are to take one main leaf out and drive it for awhile. It’s my son’s truck, so I don’t care if it rides a little rough!

    Good to know. Wheeler's was helpful, but this really defines the different springs much better. On my upcoming suspension job I'm tentatively looking at 881s and Dakars w/ whichever leaves I need pulled out for a minimal lift/level. So much information in this thread... :typing:

    Can a coil be shortened by cutting some material off one or both the ends?I wanna make my 882's a little shorter cus I don't got the weight up front....

    Would 881s with a spacer be a better option? I think wheeler's sells something like that.

    Well, I am aware of that option but correct me if I am wrong. ....when you put any kind of top spacer on a coil, you shorten the usable travel of your shock?.....plus I can't help but want to modify things past the normal route.:welder:
