Hey guys I need help asap.
I have 96 sr5 with bilstein 5100 all around, the fronts are adjustables set at 0 with 881s and dakar rear leafs. After front suspension has settled a bit the truck now sits nose down ass up. What can I do to correct this? Raising up the front to match the rear = expensive as lifting more than 2.5" up front opens a whole new bag of worms. Removing a leaf in the back sounds like pain but it is the cheapest option at the moment. I was going to install a 3 degree shim under the leaf springs to cure the vibration but that shim is going raise it even more. SO I idk what to do I need help. Thank you in advance.

I personally have the 881s with a 3/8” spacer and it sits level with a 1.5” aal. I can get hub-to-fender measurements if needed. (I’m also an extended cab)

Lets compare measurements, my fronts measure about 24" and pass rear26.5" and driver rear measuer 26". Now there numbers are from last week. I feel like they may have settled more after that. I will re-measure tomorrow. Also from what read on here some say 95-96 end up sitting higher than 97-01 dont know how true that is but I definitely read that on here.

Just take out some rear leafs. It’s not that hard to do. You can remove third from the top or the upper overload or both.

I got tired from reading lol
I have a 02 PreRunner 3.4L. Currently have a 3inch spacer lift and 2in AAL. Want to swap the front out with an updated lift.
Will OME 881s with Nitros and 10mm spacer plate provide 3inches? Or close to it?
    881s with 13mm spacer plate or 10mm?
    Thanks guys!

Do you plan on adding a bumper?

881s only gave me about 1.5" of lift, barely that even. If you want closer to 3" then go with the 882s. Or 883s if you want to run a bumper in the future.

Since you have a prerunner I’d recommend the 882’s

Just keep it simple and add the taco lean spacer. Once you put the lift on it will settle

If you're gonna cut to the chase, might as well go get Kings instead of 883s :D

Finishing this up. Dakars are installed. The creaking was due to the "U" bolts being a bit too long. Replaced them with EMU units that match the dakars and the creak went away. I quickly found that my shocks were shot so a set of 5100's were installed from 4-wheel parts and 1300 miles later i am very happy!

    Now the next issue....

Next is the front end. It now sits too low with 1" levelers and needs a 1-1.5" rise. I am sure the shocks are shot there but boy i do not want to drop that much into the front end right now. Seems like most of you use 881's or 882's. I found a set of new 880's with new EMU nitro shocks locally for a steal but the 880's i do not think add lift. Any input there? Would they work if i kept the levelers in or would adding a taller leveler for now and save up be better?

    Thank you.

If you want 2.5" lift then get 882s, or 883s if you have bumper/winch weight. 881s don't give the advertised 2" of lift or whatever it is they say, I barely got 1.5" out of mine when I had them. 882/883s are the way to go.

How do longer U-bolts cause creaking? Not doubting you just curious how that would be resolved with shorter u-bolts...maybe they were bent/broken or weren't torqued enough? I know there's some debate over what u-bolt torque should be, I torque mine to 90/ft lbs and haven't had any issues. I get a lot of creaking still but that's the curse of Dakar springs...they are known to squeak and creak. Mine mostly comes from the front hangars, spraying them down with greaseless lubricant every so often helps quiet them.

Longer U-bolts creak when you are at the very end of the threads and just can't get enough to properly clamp the axle. The creak was axle wrap because i need 2 more threads....

Why did i run into this??? I had longer U-bolts in there from the old leaf springs and 1" lift blocks. I thought there would be enough thread but...

Have you talked to the guys a wheelers to see what input they can give you? Especially about their T1 springs specifically

    I’m with @eon_blue ... my 881’s barely got me 2, more like 1.5

I’ll be upping to 883’s soon.

I had the relocation plates installed in the 1” position, moving the axle aft. I replaced them with Toytec steel 3 degree axle shims. Either no driveline vibrations or barely there, now, and my slip yoke is much happier. Also reinstalled my bump stops. Gonna look into better ones eventually.

An 800 mile round trip for training went without a hitch. I’m also noticing an almost negligible fuel mileage change. Basically the same at ~300 miles to a tank, or better.
