@Joey_Bada_Bing (and anyone else interested) - finally pinned down that the damn squeaking is coming from the OME AAL. More in the front than the rear but definitely the cause. The OME AAL does not include friction pads/discs. Adding some lube at the very front of the pack to the top and bottom of the AAL - no horrendous old box spring creaking. Rear, same thing.

I came across this some time back and its always been at the back of my mind when thinking about the squeaking dakars.

Going to look for a possible solution - perhaps an AAL which has the isolators.

A bunch of the same stuff everybody else has already done.
I suppose drilling some holes and adding friction pads to the AALs wouldn’t be that difficult

When you install yours, I'd definitely add a glob of the moly grease to the AAL ends

Feels much more solid! Not nearly as rough as the spacer setup I had before. Curious to see how much it will break in and settle.

Yeah and that is with the diff drop! Any recommendations, besides different coils, to alleviate some of that angle?

I don’t think there is much you can do other than going to a spring that isn’t as tall. I wanted the 882’s but didn’t want to be popping boots every 10k

I bought a can of this from McMaster-Carr. The price will make you choke but one application has lasted all year.
D321R has heavy solvents so it seeps in between the leafs then dries to waxy moly coating.
In desert sand woops you could hear my truck coming a mile away the squeak was so bad. Since using D321R the truck is almost silent.

Thx. Looks interesting, I'll order and give it a try. They also apparently make it in goop form as well.

Most recent update to the rig.

OME setup rolling strong for almost a year now. Dakar packs have become a little less noisy, and everything has settled nice and level, front to back.

    A recap for the curious:
    2003 PreRunner DC
881 coil and Dakar leaf springs
    Nitrochargers at all corners
SPC UCAs still at factory settings.

Just completed my LCA bushings using Whiteline polys and replaced all of my steering linkage, prior to new shoes. So happy with the results.

does that front push bar connect through the stock bumper to the frame? Or does it just wrap underneath?

It connects through to the frame. It's just like a police push bumper, which is what they're only ever meant to do; push other vehicles. Oddly enough, its predecessor did save my bacon in a minor traffic accident (Got rammed forward into a stopped truck). It's a Go Rhino "Grille Guard", optioned without the damage multipliers hanging off the sides.

265/70R16. Decided to just stick with the stock size for now. Cheap, effective and gets me off of the four highway tires I had that kept leaking down.

A friend gave me those off of his 2000 4x4. I like the look of 'em, and they offer a little protection.

What leaf springs did you use and with what shocks? We have Bilstein 4600 and OME heavy duty leaf springs but nervous to put on the leafs. Would that work?

Finally had the time to install the lift kit. First time installing a lift kit and boy ohh boy what a learning experience. Long story short.....rear leaf spring pack was a pain in the ass. I was not able to line up the bottom pin of the leaf pack to the actual axle where it sits. Was able to do so after reading another member's method of using tie straps and pulled it in place. Day 1.. Installed the rear 5100's and the front adjustable 5100's at 0 with the OME 881 springs. Instantly what a difference it made! truck felt brand new. If not smoother than my 2017 TRD Sport 4x4. Love the ride, went through some dirt road and terrain and it handled like a champ!. Day 2.. Installed the leaf pack, I was like WTF! this is high as hell! measured a total of 4" of lift. Took it out on city streets and dirt roads, ohh man the rear was super bouncy and stiff. The ride was horrible. Now i know what "medium duty" means. Although it rides like a brick in the rear, the truck was solid!. Thank goodness I bought the 5100 adjustable with OME 881. OME 881 alone gave me 2", which means I can adjust the 5100's to the first clip, which will give me an additional 1" of lift. This will level the front between 3 - 3.5". Dump a half cubic yard of landscaping rocks or mulch in the truck bed and let it sit. Maybe in a month or so the rear will settle down to 3". This should level me out completely without the fear of any sag if I were to add a front and rear bumper.

If I were to do this all over again, the only thing I would change is to remove one of the leaf from the pack. Or if the rear leafs were not 302K miles and beyond death, I would get an AAL. Also extended brake line is one item I should have bought as well.

Below are pictures and measurements of the truck with 5100's at 0 with OME881 and 5100 rears with full Dakars CS019R. When i get a chance I'll take pictures and measurements of the truck after i adjust the front to "1".

Just about 10k miles on the setup. They haven't really settled but I haven't really flexed them in that time either.

    882s
Dakars w/o AAL (took out the AAL due to softopper)
    SPC UCAs
    Nitrochargers x4

OME 881 springs with 3/8 spacer. SCS SR8 16x8 Gunmetal 285/75/16 Yokohama G003 Nitros all 4 corners. Dakar rear leafs. Deckplate mod. Marlin Crawler 1200lb clutch. Redline hood struts. ECGS clam shell bearing. Philips LED headlights. Front Runner bed bars. Katskinz leather interior.
Looks good. Wanted to go 882, but was nervous about CV angles so I went 881 and 3/8 spacer. Gotta nice 1/2" rake, but I'd rather be level. We'll see how it looks with the Ray 10s and 255s.
